Ivan Boesky is an American stock trader who was noted for his conspicuous role in Wall Street insider trading scandal that shocked America in the mid-1980s. He was sentenced to 3.5 years of imprisonment and was fined US $100 million. However he could stay in the prison for only two years. He was incarcerated in the Lompoc Federal Prison Camp near Vandenberg Air Force Base in California which is a federal correctional complex with four federal prisons near it. Lompoc Federal Prison was one among the famous minimum-security Federal prisons. There were some problems associated with this prison where Ivan was incarcerated. The prison camp offered too much freedom to the inmates before 1990s. Inmates used to wander about in the camp and played tennis or lawn bowl and the security guards used to be unarmed. It did not have fences or walls. Later the prison was converted to medium security in order to house inmates with more violent criminal back grounds.

Ivan Boesky is a successful financier and he believes greed is healthy. However, he showed good behavior in prison and was able to cut off his sentence by one year. Martha Stewart is a famous business magnet in the US who was convicted of lying to investigators about a stock sale. When the stories of her involvement in the scandal were in the media, she denied the charges repeatedly. On receiving her sentence for 5 months in Alderson Federal Prison Camp, she took it in the pace. Similar to Ivan, Michael Milken also is a famous business magnet who was convicted for 2 years of imprisonment for insider trading scandal. He served his sentence in a minimum-security federal prison Camp Pleasanton in California. The charecterisitcs of the crimes committed by Martha Stewart and Michael Milken are comparable to that of Ivan’s as the three were white collar criminals. Manuel Noriega is a former Panamanian soldier and political leader who was captured and detained by the U.S on the U.S invasion of Panama. He was convicted for drug trafficking, racketeering, and money laundering in April 1992. He served his prison sentence in the Federal detention center Miami. As he was a corrupted political leader, he is in no way similar to Ivan Boesky. Timothy McVeigh was a U.S army veteran who was arrested for bombing the Oklahoma City federal building. He spent 6 years in prison and was executed at the Terre Haute penitentiary in Indiana. He was an American terrorist who killed many innocent people with a twisted sense of purpose. Terry Nichols is a convicted assistant in the Oklahoma City bombing. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole. He is imprisoned in ADX Florence in Colorado. Both Mc Veigh and Terry Nichols are in no way comparable to Ivan as they were terrorists and conspirators. Whereas Ivan was a white collar criminal. Al Capone was an American gangster and was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment. He served his sentence in Atlanta state prison and then transferred to Alcatraz to complete his sentence. John Gotti was an American mobster and was sentenced life imprisonment without parole. He served his sentence in the United States Penitentiary at Marion, Illinois. He spent majority of his prison life in effective solitary confinement. Al Capone and John Gotti are notorious in the field of organized crime and they were responsible for countless murders and other crimes. Their criminal behavior is very much different from Ivan’s.
