YAYABOCIENCIA 2017

Sancti Spíritus, November 22 to 24, 2017.

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

The University of Sancti Spíritus "José Martí Pérez", UNISS, as part of its permanent commitment to the promotion of sustainable local development, invites Cuban and foreign professionals, academics and researchers to the IV edition of the International Scientific Conference of UNISS "YAYABOCIENCIA 2017". This fourth edition, like the previous ones, is aimed at creating a reflective and plural space for the multidisciplinary discussion of the most varied themes related to the problem of sustainable local development, in which UNISS has academic and scientific experiences in the surroundings where it is located, which allows you to exchange with other professionals. The conference has the following objectives:

1.  To promote the multidisciplinary scientific exchange and debate on topics of interest for the sustainable development, challenge of the 21st century.

2.  To bring new experiences and proposals to the problems related to the social and productive environment of developing countries.

3.  To find new ways and approaches to improve the role of universities and other institutions in the social environment.

4.  To foster international cooperation among institutions, entities and organizations to identify actions and projects in the productive and community context.

The fourth conference will be held in Trinidad de Cuba, a city with more than 500 years of history and abundant traditions, making it the tourist destination par excellence in the province of Sancti Spíritus and one of the most important in Cuba. Its historical center and the Valley of the Wits near the city were declared World Heritage in 1988, because between both spaces they treasure an architectonic set that keeps alive images of a historical period of the national development in a traditional human habitat.

Within the conference some activities could also take place in the university and tourist facilities located in Sancti Spíritus, capital city of the province of the same name located in central Cuba, 350 km from Havana, characterized by its colonial architecture with abundant roofs and stained glass windows, known as "La Ciudad del Yayabo", since its historical center is located on the banks of the Yayabo River. It is precisely that name the one identifying the event as a town founded by the Spaniards in Cuba more than 500 years ago and declared a national heritage in 1978.
