IUSD – edmodo Training

Edmodo was founded in late 2008. It was created to be a social media site (like facebook) for schools and education. In the first 3 years, they got 2.5 million users! IUSD has our own edmodo site. You will need a school code for your initial setup. To access your school code, visit:

CREATE GROUPS – create a group for each class, each period, each PLC, each club, etc. You can also create sub-groups within a group.

JOIN COMMUNITIES – there are existing content and subject communities you can join. Their updates show up on your newsfeed and you can choose to participate in discussions.

**No private information is required from students. They sign up with a GROUP CODE you provide. They enter their email address (optional), a password, and their first and last name.

**All communication in archived.

**The teacher has full control: you can make your site read-only; you can also choose to monitor all posts; or give full freedom.

PARENT ACCOUNTS: parents are given a unique code based on their child’s account. Parents can login independently and access all information (calendar, posts, grades, student activity, easy access to communicate with the teacher)
