With the exception of writing your book, completing this form may be the most important step you take on the path to publication. In order for us to make your book available as quickly as possible, it is essential that we receive complete and correct information within this form. If you have any questions about this form or any of the terms used within it, please consult our Web site or e-mail us at .

Important Information

  • All physical materials sent to iUniverse become the property of iUniverse. Fiction and nonfiction manuscripts should be at least 10,000 words while poetry books should contain enough text to fill a minimum of 40 pages (including blank verso, or left-hand, pages if necessary). Extremely large books may be published in two volumes. Contact us at if you have any questions.
  • Type all information within the form exactly as you want it to appear in your book or anywhere your book is sold. For example, do not type the title of your book in all capital letters unless you want it to always appear in all capital letters.

Your signature signifies your acceptance of all the terms described within the agreement. iUniverse cannot accept any Publishing Agreement in which the contents have been altered.

Some Important Notes About Graphics Files:

In order to ensure the highest quality possible for the images within your printed book, all graphic files must be provided as TIFF files with a 300 dpi resolution.

Interior Graphics

  • Interior graphics need to be provided as separate files. Placeholder notations (see below) should be included within your manuscript. Graphics should not be embedded within the manuscript.
  • Due to the formatting work involved, each table is considered a graphic.
  • The interior of your published book will be printed in black and white. You may send color graphics for inclusion within your book’s interior, but they will be converted to black and white. Some reduction in quality may result.

Notes on Placeholder Notations

A placeholder notation is a bracketed notation that uses the exact file name to indicate the position of the graphic(s) and caption. Including the approximate size of the graphic is recommended (e.g. 1/2 page, 1/4 page, etc.). The font format should be bold style, 14-pt size, and in a different color.

If a caption is needed, it should be included immediately below the graphic notation. The caption should be formatted in a different color and set to10-pt font size.

Placeholder example:

{{uncle_joe_1.tif--1/2 page}}

Uncle Joe and his dog at the lodge.

If a graphic is on a page by itself, enter a page break, (control + enter), enter the graphic notation and then enter a page break again.

Cover Graphics

The cover of your book will be printed in full color. If you provide your own files for your author photo and/or cover graphic, they must be formatted as 300 dpi CMYK TIFF files. Each must be sent as one high-resolution graphic (300 dpi CMYK TIFF) at the size you want it to be on your cover (covers are usually 6” X 9”). Due to the nature of our production process, we cannot use digital artwork in any other form than TIFF, and we cannot accept special fonts.

Cover Design Guidelines

Front Cover

Our professional designers will create your book’s cover using the information and graphics you provide. You may send us:

  1. Graphics files you want our designers to see as an example for your cover. Our designers will strive to incorporate your ideas. For example, if you know of a particular book cover style that you like, please provide a digital graphic of it as a guideline for our artists to use.
  2. Graphics files you want our designers to use for your cover. Please remember that you must have written permission from the creator (artist, photographer, etc.) to use his or her work on your book cover.

Fonts
