Trainee ChecklistCat D8, D9 Dozer

This is to monitor the training of the new employees. This sheet will have to be signed by both the training operator and the trainee, and brought to the mine trainer’s office every day. Once an item has been covered the training operator will checkmark it. Only items that are covered during the day will be check marked.

Items to be covered:

[ ]Walk around of the Dozer, showing all levels and components to be inspected. (Trainee to demonstrate after first day)

[ ]Trainee wears seat belt and proper PPE’s

[ ] Demonstrate how to fill out the Pre-Shift equipment check card.

[ ]Demonstrate how to fill the daily 5 point surface safety card and submit to shifter.

[ ]Demonstrate how to fill the timesheet with the proper codes.

[ ]Explain and understand the monitoring system and its levels of warning.

[ ]Understand and explain the switches in the cab and their functions.

[ ]Explain proper starting procedure.

[ ]Demonstrate the 3 brake tests. (Parking brake, Service brake and Emergency brake)

[ ] Horn procedure at the shop and at the ready line (once to move forward, twice for reverse).

[ ]Explain right of way policy.

[ ]Explain and demonstrate proper use of radio. (Channel 1 at all time, except to get maintenance)

[ ]Explain and demonstrate distance to be kept between vehicles.

[ ]Explain track equipment safety on ramp (summer and winter).

[ ]Demonstrate proper procedure to steer machine.

[ ] Demonstrate proper use of blade control lever.

[ ] Demonstrate proper use of ripper control lever.

[ ] Explain the procedure at dump sites for working with Dozers, (height of berms, Dozerpositioning and ramp grades).

[ ] Operator is never to stop vehicle on a ramp. (An Operator can stop on the ramp onlyin case of an emergency or if the vehicle breaks down).

[ ]If operator as to stop on the ramp. Operator must call on the radio on channel 1 to inform everybody that he is stopped on the ramp. “OPERATOR MUST MAKE SURE THAT OTHER EMPLOYEES RESPOND BACK ON THE RADIO SAYING THEY ARE AWARE OF THE SITUATION.”

[ ]Demonstrate proper fueling procedure. (Engine stopped, implements lowered to the ground).

[ ]Demonstrate proper shutting down procedure. (Leave machine idling for turbo to wind down)
