It’s Almost Time to go to Canberra!!!!
A few last minute reminders as we prepare for departure on Sunday evening. Mr Campey and Ms Talbot are accompanying the group to Canberra.
1. Please double check your packing. Then ask mum or dad to check it again. Ensure you can carry your own bag and any other items you bring along. Make sure you have clothing in your backpack suitable for a freezing cold Canberra morning! (plus wet weather gear and a hat for a sunny day.) We will not have access to suitcases until we reach our accommodation on Monday night. Packing list is available on the school website under permission notes.
2. Medication is to be handed in (along with any paperwork not already submitted) by Friday 25th August. We will not be accepting any medication on Sunday evening. We will have a school epipen with us, along with children’s personal epipens.
3. Shower and have an early dinner before you arrive on Sunday evening. We will be making some comfort stops throughout the evening but none long enough for a full dinner. Snacks which leave minimal mess (ie no chips, dorritos, twisties etc) plus water may be consumed on the bus - as long as you clean up any mess made. You will no doubt pack enough food to last for three weeks away. That doesn’t mean you need to eat it all on Sunday night-No one wants to be on a bus that smells like vomit! You can leave some food to eat during the week in your cabin!
4. Make sure you have a small blanket and pillow for sleeping on the bus.
5. You may carry a small amount of money in your wallet (at your parents’ discretion) for the comfort stops overnight and breakfast at McDonalds, Goulburn. All other money is to be in labelled envelopes for each day we are away. It can be handed in to Mr Campey on Friday or Ms Talbot on Sunday evening. If you want to look after your own money all week, that’s fine. It won’t be replaced if lost! Remember you also need money for dinner on Thursday night- there are several choices including McDonald’s, Subway and KFC. The best place for shopping is Questacon- our very last stop. You might want to save some of your money for this stop.
6. Be on time - not too early, not too late. We are packing the bus at 6pm for a 6.30pm departure. Unfortunately, we cannot wait for late arrivals.
7. PARENTS- when we have Wi-Fi we will do our best to post to the school Facebook Page. On Friday morning, we will post when we reach Wardell so you have a rough idea when we get back to school. We would appreciate you checking in on the page and being on time to collect your child as the very tired teachers will want to go home and sleep for three days.
8. If you urgently need to get in touch with your child you can contact Mrs Latta through the message app for the school Facebook page and she will communicate with Mr Campey and Ms Talbot.
