It Is Therefore with a Great Deal of Enthusiasm and Delight That I Am Proud to Announce

I am writing this email to you to inform you as either a partner, key stakeholder or a commissioner of our services, of the exciting news we have to share which we hope you will find of interest and encouragement. We are all aware of the difficult times in which we find ourselves currently and each of us are facing our own challenges, indeed the closure of Age UK Kesteven in January of this year was a sad example of some of the hard decisions that are being made at local and national level across our different sectors.

It is therefore with a great deal of enthusiasm and delight that I am proud to announce that Age UK Lincoln will be expanding our service provision to cover both the North and South Kesteven areas and our name will soon change to Age UK Lincoln and Kesteven. Our Board of Trustees, Executive and staff teams and our volunteers have all worked very hard to establish Age UK Lincoln as a forward thinking, innovative and solution focussed organisation that provides quality, effective and efficient services to our customers and we strive to continuously improve the range of services and support we offer in order to meet the changing needs of the older people we support, we are incredibly pleased to be able to offer this same set of values to the residents of North and South Kesteven.

All of the services now provided across Lincoln will be extended across Kesteven, including access to Information and Advice which, amongst many other things, assists individuals in accessing unclaimed benefits and services that were not previously easily accessible for them. Last year, Age UK Lincoln helped service users claim £977,271 in benefits alone. Other support services include Help in the Home, Personal Care, laundry, gardening and deep cleans, to name but a few. This will create third sector jobs and a need for a great team of volunteers across the area. New developments will include retail shops across both Lincoln and Kesteven and hubs to allow people to access services locally.

I’m sure you will agree that in these current times, where it is more usual to hear of services closing or reducing, that this is good news for Lincolnshire and serves to demonstrate that growth and development continues to happen despite the obvious difficulties and the collaborative and integrated approach that we firmly believe in provides us with opportunities for the future.
