The future development of the AAA update from Denise Keating, enei

Denise presented an update on the Age Action Alliance (Presentation attached) covering the Advisory Board, Working Groups, Information Request for website updates, Activity and Future Plans.

AAA Advisory Board meeting scheduled for 18th April 2018

AAA Working Group Chairs Meeting scheduled for 26th April 2018 – Highlights include discussion on the transferring of ideas and successes across working groups.

Health service

The groupasked if it would be possible to find ways of engaging with the health service - Denise advised there is an intention to have a Care Working Group and she will add this to their agenda.

Annual Conference

It was suggested that consideration be given to an Age Action Alliance Annual Conference where the Minister for Loneliness can be invited. Denise to put this to the AAA Advisory Board.

Green Paper: Health & Social Care Paper

Alan will circulate the Health & Social Care Paper, expected in July 2018, to the Group.

Recruiting Volunteers

Recruiting Volunteers in Oxfordshire - Lois Muddiman, Ami - Lois presented on Volunteering & Socialising. The presentation to be posted on the AAA Weekly News and AAA Website.

All other business

  • Hyde Housing - support for older residents, wants to share ideas.
  • e-mails to Members, there should be an opt-in to ensure we are compliant with the GDPR.
  • Volunteering Matters talked about the extensive work they do.
  • Alex shared information about the Chatty Cafe Scheme which will be put in the AAA Weekly News.
  • Alex was encouraged to join AAA as a Member by visiting the website.
  • Big Lottery confirmed they are moving to local funding with Awards for all up to £10,000. National Awards are on the website.
  • Ageing Better event in November – sign up to the AAA Newsletter for updates.

Future Meetings

Next meeting 12th June 2018 at Age UK, Tavis House.Shelagh will send invites and agenda. It was suggested that the agenda includes 'Mental Health including tackling loneliness' (Public Health England to lead).
