Meeting Minutes:

  1. Administrative
  • The meeting convened at 8:30 am on Monday, April 25 and adjourned at 3:00 pm on the Tuesday, April 26, 2005.
  • Wayne Mabry presented QHSE guidelines to the meeting attendees.
  1. Review of Previous Action Items
  • Jim Holt looked into equation for erosional velocity. Ref. Document is API RP 14E.
  • Defer following-up on contacts defined at last meeting. To be reviewed at next meeitng.
  • [Jim Holt] Tools International Corp.: Dodd Foreman. Talked to him. Need feedback.
  • [Jim Holt] Global: (Ask Jim Kritzler to visit with him.)
  • [Jim Holt] Baker: Jim Holt can be their rep.
  • [Zlatko] Specialty Machine: They are now part of Weatherford. Zlatko is a rep. for them.
  • [Wayne] Hunting: Build tools under contract for Schlumberger. Tyson Messick to follow up on this. Jim Tubbs and Frank Jarveaux.
  • [Wayne] Superior: Vince Steriolli. Wayne follow up on this.

  • [Update April 25, 2005] It has been decided to not contact these companies as: (1) they are already represented through others on the committee, (2) they are representatives that don’t manufacture equipment, and (3) they have not been involved in the process so it would require a lot of time to bring them up-to-date and reach consensus with them.
  • Follow-up on items defined at last meeting.
  • Wayne and Cleon address these two items off line.
  • Consider addition of clause for scaling of design acceptance (as per 6.3.11 in 17078.2).
  • Consider adding 7.2.2, 7.2.3, and 7.2.4 from 17078.2 to 17078.3.
  • [Update April 25, 2005] This is still to be addressed.
  • Zlatko produce an example scaled drawing using Autocad of the layout drawing as required in the V1 test of a Running Tool.
  • Cleon copy interface compatibility testing to pulling tools, KO tools, and latches, with appropriate changes as required. [Update April 25, 2005] Done.
  1. New Action Items on April 25, 2005
  • Zlatko to supply drawings of kick-over tools in the process of installing and retrieving flow control devices.
  • Include a catcher.
  • Include a legend to define the various parts.
  • Cleon is to prepare the sections for Latches and Pulling Tools for work at the next meeting.
  1. ISO 17078-1
  • This document is now published. No action at this meeting.
  1. ISO 17078-2
  • This document is now being reviewed by the international committee. We plan to review their comments in the June meeting. Wayne Mabry and Cleon Dunham will address the editorial issues. They will identify the technical issues to be addressed by the Task Group at a future meeting.
  1. ISO 17078-3
  • In the test for running tools, we changed from using the smallest mandrel of the type for which compatibility is claimed, to “a” mandrel of the type for which compatibility is claimed.
  • We completed definition of the design validation testing and product functional testing for kick-over tools.
  • The goal for the next meeting at Baker on August 23 – 25, 2005 will be to define the design validation and product functional testing requirements for pulling tools and latches.
  • A stretch goal will be to review the impact on ISO 17078-4 of new information from ISO 17078-3.
