Orange Coast College’s Career Services Department offers a variety of services to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) students, faculty and business community. The program provides assessment testing, career exploration, job placement, internships, job fairs, advisory board support, instructional support, grant support, course articulation, pathway days and marketing on campus. / What will students be able to think, know, do, or feel because of a given educational experience in a course or a program?

ISLO #1 Write three learning objectives based on work-related duties. / Students much complete a learning objectives form prior to enrollment in the program. The employer and faculty advisor must agree to the measures and sign-off before students are eligible to enroll. / The learning objectives provide both the student and employer with expectations for transferring learning from school to work. / Faculty Advisors, Student and Employers evaluate the student and the Internship Academy. Changes are made based on recommendations from all three groups. Changes include providing the formula for faculty pay; reduce the amount of points given to students by employers evaluating performance. Faculty are more involved in the process.
ISL0 #2 Demonstrate competent and appropriate completion of each objective, showing increased performance, improved efficiency, and enhanced skills in the workplace. / Students, employers and faculty advisor’s work to identify three learning objectives specific to their area of interest and employment setting. / Employers evaluate student’s based on learning objectives and provides feedback to the student per the evaluation. Students evaluate the employer and the internship experience. / The Internship Academy is more organized and structured to provide opportunities for students to build their network, gain job experience and transfer learning from the classroom to work.
ISLO #3 Demonstrate competent and appropriate employment skills showing improved understanding of human relations, increased self- confidence, and application of classroom theory to real life experience. / Emphasis is placed on developing on objective based on soft skills. / During the Internship Academy orientations, students are provided a sample learning objective form with soft skill example. Students have the option of using the example as one of the three objectives or develop their own. / Continue to provide examples of soft skills to share with students.
