Overall Job Purpose:
To promote general safety and enjoyment of all beach users. This involves advising beach users of possible dangers that exist, giving information on local tides and currents, weather conditions, use of boat channels and limitations of inflatables,etc.
To collect registration and launching fees and issue appropriate receipts at council slipways, the work will also include regulating the movement of vehicles and trailers on and around the slipways.
The Beach Warden should at all times display a polite and courteous disposition when dealing with members of the public.
At the end of the season, the Warden will be required to submit an appraisal report.
Wear uniform and ID badges provided at all times when on duty.
During inclement weather the Beach Wardens will be required to carry out duties within Economic and Community Regeneration must therefore, be available.
Principal Accountabilities / Key Tasks:
- Ensure that boat owners do not moor their boats within the channel boundaries or on
the buoys that mark the channel. Ensure that all power boat owners use the boat
channels provided.
- Ensure that the entrance from the road to the boat channel is kept clear at all times to facilitate launching, andEnsure that the slipway is not obstructed in any way andEnsure that the slipway is kept clear to weed and stones, and is in a safe and usable condition at all times.
- Ensure that all car and boat trailers are parked in the places provided and not left on the beach area.Control the movements of vehicles and trailers on and approaching the slipwayand the beach area.
- To collect registration and launching fees from all craft using the slipways.
- Issue appropriate receipts for all fees collected.
- Pay in cash to appropriate office on daily basis when possible and as soon as possible at weekends and bank holidays. Complete the necessary paying in forms.
Give Coastal Safety information to boat users.Give advice on weather and tidal conditions if requested.
- To promote tourisum by Giveing advice and leaflets to the beach usere as and when required.
- Ensur all safety equipment and signage is in good order, report any findings.
- Ensure all cabins to be kept clean and tidy, report any damage or faults.
- Ensure that all swimmers stay clear of the boat channels at all times.
- Ensure that all beach users observe the existing seaside and pleasure boat bye-laws at all times. Should a beach user persistently disregard the by-laws, the Beach Warden should take the appropriate actions.
- Ensure that all dog owners observe the existing dog by-laws, Should a beach user persistently disregard the by-laws, the Beach Warden should take the appropriate actions.
- Should a situation arise that may result in a possible hazardous incident, the Beach Warden should advise the participants of the dangers involved. However, the Warden should not become involved in any arguments after giving such advice.
- The person appointed will also be required to ensure that litter is cleared from the beach by the Council’s contractor.
- There is potential requirement for the slipway attendant to undertake water quality sampling throughout the season. (This will only be the duty of one of the Slipway Attendant).

Working Arrangements and Conditions:
Working week:37 hours per week as directed by the line manager – working week will cover 6 days and include weekends and bank holidays.
Contracted hours: 37 hours per week
Spread:Monday to Friday including weekends.
Identified work base:PORTHDAFARCH, TREARDDUR BAY, RHOSCOLYN, RHOSNEIGR, LLANDDWYN, LLANDDONA, BENLLECH, TRAETH BYCHAN,CEMAES, and CHURCH BAY You may, however, be required or permitted to work anywhere within the Council’s area on a permanent or temporary basis without additional time or payment for doing so.
