20 Years of Inspiring and Preparing Lifelong Learners

September 2013

Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year and the 20th Anniversary of Crown Point Elementary School. Through the school year, we will have various activities to celebrate our school’s anniversary. Time has gone by quickly and I am pleased to say that I have been principal here for 11 of the 20 years. From my arrival to this present time, our school continues to exemplify excellence in many areas. Through the 20 years, Crown Point has remained a School of Excellence or Distinction based on our students academic performance. Students constantly come back for a visit and two of our current teachers are Crown Point graduates. The legacy continues and we are happy that you are part of it.

One of the first anniversary events that our school will be having is an adult only “Evening Under the Stars” Affair at our school on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. This event will have music, entertainment, dancing, and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Childcare will be provided for parents who need it. A flyer will be coming home shortly with additional information and we look forward to your participation in this event. If you would like to participate in organizing or entertaining at this event, feel free to contact Mr. Anderson at or call at 980-343-6535.

Parent Information Night will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM with two sessions. The first session will start at 6:00 PM with a televised introduction on CPES News, followed by classroom sessions at 6:15 PM and the second session will begin at 6:55 PM. This is an opportunity for parents to learn specific details about their children’s classes. Teachers will be available to discuss curriculum, procedures, homework, etc with parents. Support teachers explain to parents their areas of specialty and how it aligns with academic instruction. Talent Development (TD) students parents are asked to meet in the Media Center at 5:30 PM with our TD teacher Mrs. Witherspoon. Fifth grade students’ parents will meet in the Media Center after the first session for details about their annual trip to Washington, DC.

Please feel free to contact us with any concerns or issues. There are no difficult questions or concerns; we are here for our students to work together for their success.

Sincerely,

Mr. Mark Anderson, Principal
