IS LUCIFER in Isaiah 14:12 an Actual Star?

That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! . . . Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us? Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. How art thou FALLEN FROM HEAVEN,O LUCIFER, son of the morning! how art thou CUT DOWN TO THE GROUND, which didst WEAKEN THE NATIONS! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. – Isa 14:4, 9 -14

When the MORNING STARS sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? – Job 38:7

I [Jesus] am the root and the offspring of David, and the BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR. – Rev 22:16

Isn't it odd that Bible believers see "Lucifer“as Satan in Isa. 14:12, while the NIV calls him "morning star" there? Yet it is stranger that BOTHthe KJB and the NIV call Jesus the "MORNING STAR" in Rev. 22:16. For Bible Correctors to ignore that Jesus is the "Morning Star" and think that it was an actual Star that fell from heaven in Isa 14:12, demonstrates how Bible Correctors have cross referencing nightmares. It is pretty difficult for the Morning star to fall from heaven and to be cut down to the ground. Also, we never heard of a star weakening nations, but then we are not into science fiction like many Bible Correctors are. I also do not know how a star can say things in its heart or challenge God. The king of Babylon is personifications of Satan, under the name Lucifer. How could the King of Babylon fall from heaven and be cast to the ground from heaven, if the King of Babylon was the only one that was meant. Still, isn’t a star an inanimate object?

The Other Versions on Isaiah 14:12

(KJB) How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! -- Isa 14:12 (Lucifer is in the NKJV)

(Geneva) How art thou fallen from heauen, O LUCIFER, sonne of the morning? and cutte downe to the grounde, which didest cast lottes vpon the nations? -- Isa 14:12

(Bishop’s Bible) Howe art thou fallen from heauen O LUCIFER, thou faire mornyng chylde? Howe hast thou gotten a fall euen to the grounde, which didst weaken the nations? -- Isa 14:12

(WEBSTER) How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! -- Isa 14:12

(YLT) How hast thou fallen from the heavens, O SHINING ONE, son of the dawn! Thou hast been cut down to earth, O weakener of nations. -- Isa 14:12

(NIV) How you have fallen from heaven, O MORNING STAR, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to earth, you who once laid low the nations. -- Isa 14:12

(ESV) How you are fallen from heaven, O DAY STAR, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! – Isa 14:12

It is amazing how Bible Correctors complain about the KJB rendering of Lucifer in Isaiah 14, while swallowing the modern versions and their different renderings. They are unable to recognize that a Personage is being addressed in Isaiah 14 by way of personification of a man, the King of Babylon, personified as Satan under the name Lucifer.

The Bright and Shining Ones

Psalm 80:1 . . . O Shepherd of Israel . . . thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of LIGHT*. – 2 Cor. 11:14 (KJB)

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy BRIGHTNESS*: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.– Ezek. 28:17 (See 28:7 also)

I [Jesus] am the root and the offspring of David, and the BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR. – Rev 22:16

Satan wasindeed “a” morning star of beauty and brightness* by the name of Lucifer which means a shining one. Satan is a “transformer,” transformed into an angel of light? Job called the angels “sons of God” and “morning stars” and Satan was “a” morning star of beauty and brightness by the name of Lucifer .We can abide trying to translate Bible names literally for effect, and that is one thing since the roots of such names do have literal root meanings. The root meaning in Isa 14:12 does pertain to shining or light or brightness (see Ezekiel 28).Still, none of these Hebrew roots in Isa 14:12 mean “morning” or “star” at all in Hebrew. To render the Hebrew “morning star” in Isa 14:12 is an assumption and an interpolation. We can abide trying to translate the word literally for effect, and that is one thing, since the roots of the word pertain to shining or light or brightness (see Ezekiel 28). Nevertheless, to ignore the fact that many Bible names have literal root meanings that are not translated as such is inexcusable. Still, none of these Hebrew roots mean morning or star at all in Isaiah 14.

Note:the root of heylel (1966) is from halal (1984) to shine*; hence to make a show; to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causatively to celebrate; also to stultify: - (make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool (-ish, -ly), glory, give [light], be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.

The Ezekiel Account to Lucifer

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy BRIGHTNESS: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes UPON THE EARTH in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. -- Ezekiel 28:17-19

Bible Correctors ignore the parallel cross reference to Isaiah 14, where the devil is expelled and falls from heaven and is cast to the ground (along with Rev. 12:7-9, matching Isaiah 14, whereas this did not happen to any earthly king. Ezekiel 28 also matches Isaiah 14 with Lucifer laid before kings. One might also note that Ezekiel 28:17 refers to Satan’s BRIGHTNESS which matches the literal meaning of his name Lucifer as the “SHINING ONE.” The silliest thing that I heard on Ezekiel 28 was from a Gap Theorist, who claimed that this was in reality Tyrus, a pre-adamic king Tyrus, PRINCE of TYRE(another personification of Satan). LOL!

The Personifications of Satan

Now the SERPENT was more subtil than any beast of the field . . . – Gen. 3:1

That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon . . . How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER . . . -- Isa 14:4, 12

But the PRINCEof the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief PRINCES, came to help me . . . -- Dan 10:13

Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the PRINCE of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the PRINCE of Grecia shall come. But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your PRINCE. -- Dan 10:20, 21

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great PRINCEwhich standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: -- Dan 12:1

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to thePRINCE of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: -- Eph 2:2

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the DRAGON; and the DRAGON fought and his angels . . . And the greatDRAGONwas cast out, that old SERPENT, called the DEVIL, and SATAN, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth . . . – Rev. 12:7, 9

And he laid hold on the DRAGON, that old SERPENT, which is the DEVIL and SATAN. . . -- Rev 20:2

The Book of Daniel demonstrates the personification of Satan as the human prince of Persia and as the human Prince of Grecia and as the prince that shall come. There are more than a few things personified by other things in the Bible, and Satan is personified by various princes and also a dragon and a serpent. Michael is the good prince that wars with the evil prince and his angels in heaven and casts him out of heaven to the ground. These evil princes/kings, in Isaiah and Ezekiel, were motivated by Satan and possibly indwelt by him, hence the personification of Satan there. It is beyond credulity that an earthly king could withstand an arch angel for 21 days apart and not have the devil's power.

Bible correctors do not usually understand BIBLE personifications of Satan. More obviously, they must never have read the scriptures in which Satan is represented as a serpent and a dragon. We can only assume that they believe that these were ONLY and MERELYliteral beasts and/or human kings without any personification of the devil. Then there are those that think that legitimate personifications mustinvolve nonhuman inanimate objects. Well that is not the case in the Bible with the serpent and the dragon. Nevertheless, Satan is a non-human but very, very animate. We can only assume that they believe that these were ONLYMERELYliteral beasts or human kings without any personification of the devil. Is Lucifer Satan in Isaiah 14 or the Morning Star or the King of Babylon or Senacherib? Obviously, those, who do not believe that Isaiah 14 refers to a personification of the devil and think that it refers only to an earthly king, have not considered the fact that Satan as well as Michael are princes or kings. Satan is the PRINCE of the power of the air. This is what happens toBible Correctors when they do not correctly cross reference things in the Bible, the inspired, infallible, inerrant, preserved King James Bible, if you please. But now, you know the rest of the Luciferean story.
