Salary: £46,799.00 - £51,639.00

The Headteacher is looking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational DeputyHeadteacher to join them on their journey. The successful applicant will display the following attributes:-

  • A passionate and self-motivated outstanding SEN practitioner, who has experience of leading and managing teams, including supporting and coaching others.
  • A dynamic, committed leader who will inspire high levels of confidence in colleagues, pupils and parents.
  • Calmness, efficiency and the ability to work under pressure or at times of change.
  • A thorough understanding of current educational issues.
  • Enthusiasm, stamina, energy and drive.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective organisational and administrative skills, alongside a sense of humour and perspective.
  • Is approachable, able to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with others.
  • Is able to process and retain a high volume of information and use this to make informed decisions.

As Deputy Headteacher your main duties will include:

  • Assisting the Headteacher (HT) in providing professional and inspirational leadership for the School, ensuring that it is managed and organised to meet its statutory requirements, aims and targets;
  • To promote the vision and values of the School;
  • To ensure pupils’ safeguarding, child protection and welfare;
  • To ensure that learners participate in a high quality education, receive the best possible care and achieve the highest possible standards in all areas of learning;
  • Supporting the development of the School Self-Evaluation and School Improvement Plan (SIP);
  • To have responsibility for named areas of the School Improvement Plan – possibly varying from year to year, dependent upon the School’s needs;
  • To plan and manage change in accordance with the SIP.

Thriftwood is an Outstanding Special School and College for children and young people with a range of complex learning difficulties.
