Poster Abstract Submission

General Information

The Irish Pain Society invites members and others to submit poster abstracts to be considered for presentation at this international scientific meeting on pain. Please observe the following guidelines:

  1. Abstracts must be submitted as an emailattachment in Wordto Orla Doran [ ]entitled ‘Abstract_(Author Name)’.
  2. Abstracts submitted via fax, CD, or mail will NOT be accepted.
  3. Abstracts may be for poster format presentation only and must be original scientific material that has not been previously published or presented at other national or international meetings.
  4. The abstract must be a submitted on the abstract form in word, single spaced and justified.
  5. Abstracts received after the deadline of 16th September will not be accepted.
  6. Accepted Poster Abstracts will only be included in the meeting if the presenting author has registered for the meeting bythe 19th October.
  7. The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submitting it.
  8. Please note that abstract content may be edited at the discretion of the Panel of Reviewers.
  9. Should you wish to amend an abstract after submission, please contact the Secretariat at .
  10. Instruction on the preparation and size of posters will be sent with the acceptance notification.
  11. Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for the abstract to be published in the official Conference Abstract Book.

Abstract Format

  • Abstracts must be submitted on the abstract from.
  • Title of Abstract.
  • Presenting author’s contact details; include full mailing address, phone number and email address.
  • Author or authors’ names: first names(s), family name.
  • Affiliation details of all authors: department; institution/hospital; city, country.
  • Abstract Title (limited to 20 words) in UPPER CASE.
  • No tables or illustrations may be included in abstracts.
  • Abstracts must be in English.
  • Text of abstract-limited to 250 words.
  • Key words; a minimum of three (3) key words must be included with each abstract.

Abstracts must be organised into the following sections:

  • Introduction
  • Aim of Investigation
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions
  • * Acknowledgements:

Acknowledgements should include grant support (including grant number) and disclosure of any financial relationships that the author(s) may have with the manufacturer/supplier of any commercial products or services related to the work should be indicated on the abstract form.

* The acknowledgement/disclosure should be shown by an asterisk (*) in the authors’ list for those presenters who have stated that a relationship(s) exists relevant to the topic presented.

Presentations

The accepted posters will be presented during a one-hour poster session on Saturday 2nd November 2013. There will be a Pain Research Prize for the best poster based on a 4 minute verbal explanation by the presenter to a judge(s). Each poster presenter should be prepared to deliver the four-minute presentation of their poster content to the plenary audience, should they win the prestigious Pain Research Prize. Use of PowerPoint is acceptable for the plenary presentation but there should be no more than six slides including the title slide.
