CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

The Irish Heart Foundation Stroke Council was established in 1997 and is dedicated to furthering excellence in stroke care in Ireland. Abstracts are now invited for POSTER AND ORAL presentations at the 14th Annual Stroke Study Day. Submissions on all aspects of stroke care are welcome.

NOTE – Prizes will be awarded for best poster and oral presentations. The lead presenter may be from nursing, allied health professional and medical disciplines. Presenters must register and be in attendance at the conference to be eligible for awards. Consultants may submit and present work, but are excluded from eligibility for prizes.

Abstracts should be approximately 300 words, typed in Arial font style, font size 12, with single line spacing. The following details should be included:

Abstract title – no more than two lines, TYPE IN CAPITALS

Authors and Institution affiliations – list presenting authors first e.g. Hogan M1, Lynch E2, Mohr A3. Departments of 2Physiotherapy, 2Epidemiology & 3Medicine for the Elderly, St Gerard’s Hospital, Dublin.

Name of lead presenter and contact details (phone and email)

The text of the abstract should be arranged as follows:

IntroductionThis must be brief and state the research objective/s.

MethodsMethods and data collection should be briefly described. Details of statistical methods should be included where appropriate.

ResultsResults of the study must be presented. Tables and graphs may be included provided the abstract does not exceed one A4 page.

Discussion / Conclusion

This should relate to the study findings. Any recommendations for further practice/research should be presented where appropriate.

ReferencesThese should be kept to a maximum of three references using Vancouver Style.

ABSTRACTS MUST NOT EXCEED ONE A4 PAGE

Abstracts which do not adhere to these guidelines will NOT be considered.
