IRHS Music and Recording Technology 2016-2017

Course Goals:

7.  Understand the creative process modern sound designers and composer use

Expectations & Obligations:

1.  100% participation: being on time, asking questions, improving your musical skills, listening to suggestions & helping others.

2.  Demonstrate a knowledge & appreciation of basic music theory, sound design, recording and post production

3.  Be an active participant, always hold yourself to a high standard

4.  Maintain a cooperative & collaborative attitude

5.  Having all materials and handouts each class period

6.  Show respect to staff, artists & fellow students

7.  Ask questions when you don’t understand something - It’s how you learn and grow!

Classroom Procedures:

-  Setup - When you first enter our classroom, grab a chair and sit face the TV at the front of the room. Take out your notebook and pencil and complete your bellwork assignment or wait for further instruction.

-  Clean Up - Put your chair, music stand and other materials. Class will not be dismissed until the room is cleaned properly.

-  Restrooms - Take care of all personal needs before class begins.

Stay Current - Check your teacher’s website in order to stay current with events

Letters of Recommendation - Please be sure to ask in advanced for summer camp & college letters.

It is in your best interest that I have at least four weeks to write a fabulous letter for you. Visit your counselor for more info regarding requesting a letter.

Classroom Rules:

-  Food - Absolutely no food or drink allowed! Bottled water is ok.

School Equipment- IF IT’S NOT YOURS DON’T TOUCH IT! This will relieve you of any responsibility should anything disappear or become broken.

Outside Materials - Do not bring: outside homework, books, or anything else not pertaining to MARtech class. Materials which do not belong are only a distraction to you and those around you.

-  Punctuality- Three tardies = 1 after school detention. It is not my responsibility to inform you that you have been marked tardy. If you are late, consider yourself marked tardy!

-  Raise your hand - This is just like any other class, you must raise your hand if you have a question, comment or concern.

-  Sickness - If you’re sick PLEASE do not come to my class and spread your germs! If you come to school, you are still expected to participate.

Missed Work In Other Classes - Please do not ask if you can make up missed work from other classes during class.

30% Projects/Presentations

20% Daily Participation

10% Classwork

10% Homework

10% Midterm

20% Final
