Chapter Job Descriptions

ARM®Chair

  • Coordinates all activities related to processing new ARM® Members – from receipt of new ARM® applications to official approval as ARM® Members.
  • Serves as primary chapter contact (name, phone, e-mail provided) on all communications to ARM® applicants and Members from IREM® Headquarters.
  • Recruits chapter volunteers to assist with interviewers for ARM® approvals.
  • Receives notifications of ARM® approvals and participates in welcoming new ARM® Members to the chapter.
  • Reviews ARM® applications and sends the “Chapter Interview and Recommendation for ARM® Membership”form to IREM® Headquarters within prescribed deadlines.
  • Receives the “Chapter Follow-Up Reports”, which list all current and outstanding chapter deadlines for ARM® approvals and processes accordingly.
  • Participates in the chapter’s strategies for recruiting and retaining members.

Chapter Job Descriptions

MEMBERSHIP AND EDUCATION Chair

  • Coordinates all activities related to processing new CPM® Members – from receipt of new Candidate applications to official approval as CPM® Members; and including recognition and assigning mentors.
  • Serves as primary chapter contact (name, phone, e-mail provided) on all communications to Candidates from IREM® Headquarters.
  • Reviews Candidate experience reports, conducts or assigns interviews with Candidates, and assures the “Chapter Verification of Experience for CPM® Credit” form is sent to IREM® Headquarters within prescribed deadlines.
  • Reviews CPM® applications and, if needed, verifies Candidates’ experience. Assures the “Chapter Interview and Recommendation Form for the CPM® Designation” form is sent to IREM® Headquarters within prescribed deadlines.
  • Receives the “Chapter Follow-Up Reports” from IREM National, which list all current and outstanding chapter deadlines for Candidate experience verifications and CPM® application approvals, and processes accordingly.
  • Receives notification of Candidates whose membership has lapsed; assures chapter records updated accordingly. Follows up with former Candidates as appropriate.
  • Receives official notifications of new CPM® Members and assures chapter performs appropriate recognitions.
  • Reports to Executive Council at regular meetings of current CPMs, CPM candidates, ARMs, AMOs, and AcoM status.
  • Oversees the development of the annual course schedule for the chapter. Informs Education Services Division at IREM National by September to get on their schedule for the following year.
  • Develops strategies to market courses and works with Executive Council to implement them.
  • Reviews all education communications received from IREM National and through their website..

Chapter Job Descriptions

Programs Chair

  • Develop strategies and timelines to market programs, events, fundraisers; and work with Executive Council to implement them.
  • Act as backup for Education Chair when necessary and assist with course logistics.
  • Suggest strategies to Executive Council for enhancing membership growth.
  • Identify impediments to membership and solutions for overcoming those impediments.
  • Study services related to each class of membership, certification, and affiliation and devise programs geared to benefiting such services.

Chapter Job Descriptions

Income/Expense Analysis® Contact

  • Meet and/or exceed Chapter Income/Expense Analysis® Goals, provided by IREM® Headquarters. Chapter Goals are based on an average of the past three years’ submittals.
  • Attend the I/E webinar in January/February
  • Contact contributors: both new and previous; members and non-members; promoting the I/E program and encouraging them to submit their properties data to the Income/Expense Analysis® program. Contributors who submit by the April 1st deadline will receive a free I/E book.
  • Outreach to non-members within the real estate community, introducing IREM® and the I/E program encouraging them to participate in the I/E survey.
  • Monitor the I/E website, tracking the status of submittals.
  • Contact all members and non-members weekly to follow up on their progress.
  • Goals from IREM National are given to the chapters in September. Review current economy to see if goals can be achieved. Submit any revisions to Executive Council. Revisions must be submitted to IREM National by October 1.

Chapter Job Descriptions

Legislative Contact

  • Have interest in, and knowledge of, the basics of how the legislative process works – especially at the state level.
  • Serve as the liaison between IREM® Headquarters and the local chapter; provide communication to chapter members on pertinent local (and sometimes federal) legislation and policy.
  • Develop chapter legislative agendas – collects information on issues pertinent to that region.
  • Encourage chapter member participation in legislative activities.
  • Develop and maintains relationships with other industry groups (to assist in lobbying efforts).
  • Develop and maintains relationships with elected officials and other local political individuals.
  • Responsible for issuing legislative or regulatory "Calls-for-Action" and coordinate Chapter legislative needs within the chapter and requests for involvement from Institute Headquarters.

Chapter Job Descriptions

Chapter President

  • Develops the agenda for, and presides at, all meetings of the chapter and its executive council; attends all meetings of the chapter and its executive council.
  • Conducts the business of the chapter in accordance with the chapter bylaws.
  • Oversees and coordinates the establishment and implementation of chapter goals and strategic plans.
  • Guides the work of the committees, and encourages coordination among committees.
  • Serves as an ex officio member, with the right to vote, on all committees.
  • Represents the organization, as necessary, at official functions with private and public organizations.
  • Maintains communications with IREM® Headquarters and the Regional Vice President.
  • Ensures that the chapter has strategies for recruiting and retaining members.
  • Oversees and coordinates a plan for chapter leadership succession and the development of future leadership.
  • Conducts annual review of the chapter IREM® Association Executive with members of Executive Council.
  • Attends the semiannual IREM® national conferences and serves as an ex officio member of the Governing Council.
  • Participates in the chapter leader webinars and conference calls.
  • Reviews all communications from IREM® Headquarters and the Regional Vice President.
  • Appoints Nominating Committee by June 1 and approved by Executive Council by June 30.
  • Appoints Finance Committee by August 1 for preparing upcoming year’s proposed budget.

Chapter Job Descriptions

Chapter President-Elect

  • Attends all meetings of the chapter and its executive council and presides at these meetings in the absence of the president.
  • Participates in the establishment and implementation of chapter goals and strategic plans.
  • Assists president with chapter activities.
  • Participates in a plan for chapter leadership succession and the development of future leadership.
  • Helps to ensure that the chapter has strategies for recruiting and retaining members.
  • Attends the semiannual IREM® national conferences and serves as an ex officio member of the Governing Council in the absence of the president.
  • Participates in the chapter leader webinars and conference calls.
  • Reviews all communications from IREM® Headquarters and the Regional Vice President.
  • Assumes the office of president for the remainder of the un-expired term of office in the event of the resignation or removal of the president or due to the failure or inability of the president to perform the duties of his office.

Chapter Treasurer

  • Receives/collects all monies of the chapter or by any officer on behalf of the chapter, and deposits monies in a bank designated account approved by the executive council.
  • Provides financial reports at executive council meetings.
  • Responsible for filing financial reports, IRS returns, state tax returns, state annual reports, and other information to proper authorities.
  • Develops a budget in conjunction with the finance committee.
  • Makes disbursements of all monies as the chapter executive council may direct.
  • Attends all meetings of the chapter and its executive council.
  • Participates in the establishment and implementation of chapter goals and strategic plans.
  • Participates in the chapter leader webinars and conference calls.
  • Submit financial reports to Regional Vice President.
  • Maintains membership roster and attendance rosters. Distributes to membership evfery two years.
  • Along with Finance Committee, prepares proposed upcoming year budget and submits to Executive Council for approval by September.

Chapter Job Descriptions

Chapter Industry Partners Chair

  • Suggest strategies to increase Industry Partner Program.
  • Review benefits and make recommendations to Executive Council for improving the benefits of the Industry Partner Program.
  • Maintain and improve relationship between the Industry Partners and membership for the benefit of all concerned.
  • Work with Program Committee for generating sponsors at events.
  • Start in January each year to coordinate golf outing in June.
