  • Good Academic standing with a 3.0 or higher GPA at Iowa State University
  • Undergraduate student in Biology, Genetics, or Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Program with at least sophomore standing for Fall 2018 and attending full time
  • Demonstrated financial needas evidenced by the FAFSA (filed by December 1st, 2017)
  • Preference will be given to students with demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by involvement in community and/or campus organizations
  • Preference will be given to students with career interests in genetics, developmental biology, or cell biology
Dr. John R. Ohlfest Memorial Scholarship ($950 for academic year)
  • Major in Biology or Genetics with Junior Class Standing in Fall 2018
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrated financial aid as evidenced by the FAFSA
  • Citizen of the U.S.A.
  • Preference will be given to students from Lawton, Iowa

Students applying to the Diane Marie Heimbuch Scholarship should demonstrate their interests in animal biology. Students applying to the Darlene and Melvin Larsen Scholarship should demonstrate their interests in genetics, development, or cell biology.
