CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
7thGRADE AMERICAN HISTORY
MRS. SUGANDI
Entering the classroom:
Enter the classroom quietly, and have a seat in your assigned seat.
Sharpen pencils at this time. You should keep 2-3 sharpened pencils on you at all times in case a pencil breaks.
After sharpening pencils you need to get out your homework and have it ready for when I give instructions.
After sharpening you pencils, you are to begin the “DO NOW” activity. It will be displayed on the promethean board or written on the board or on your desk.
After you have completed the “DO NOW”, check the “Did You Miss Something?”, copy down the homework, and then wait for my instructions.
When you are tardy:
Remember, you are automatically tardy if you are not in your desk when the tardy bell rings.
Enter the classroom without talking and disrupting the class.
Go straight to your desk, place your admit on your desk, and get out your materials quietly.
Proceed with whatever the class is doing.
End-of-period dismissal:
Please keep in mind that the bells are a signal for teachers, notifying them that instructional time has come to an end.
You are to remain in your seat until I dismiss the class.
No one may leave if there is anything on the floor.
I will dismiss the class one table at a time.
Leave the classroom quietly.
Checking out materials in class (pencils, paper, books, etc.)
This must be taken care of when you first enter the classroom.
Extra pencils are provided, however, you are to return them to the correct area. These are not yours to keep.
Extra paper will be provided for you. You may take enough paper to use in my class only.
You must give collateral to the teacher. This can include one of the following: binder, other textbook, (or shoe, as a last resort) etc.
When item is returned collect your collateral.
Asking questions during instruction
Raise your hand and wait quietly until you are called upon.
Remember, every time you speak, you interrupt the class.
Turning in papers:
This requires absolutely no talking.
Responding to my request for attention:
When I raise my hand or give you a signal, this means I want your undivided attention.
You are to freeze, smile, give me five; turn and face me; pay attention and keep your eyes on me.
Be ready for instruction; I will have something to say.
When someone knocks and comes into the classroom:
The door greeter answers the door only if they recognize the person.
If I am teaching the class, you are not to talk at all.
If you are working in groups or independently, you are to continue with your assignment.
Getting into and out of groups:
I will assign everyone to a group.
When told to get into groups, this should be done without talking.
You should get into your assigned groups as quickly as possible to begin your assignment.
When told to get out of groups, you are to stop what you are doing.
When in groups:
Sit in your assigned group only. No group swapping or talking to other groups.
Use 6 inch voices. Talk quietly.
Each group member will be assigned a job.
No walking during group activities. Stay in your assigned seat unless directed otherwise.
I will walk around during group activities taking notes as to who is working and who is not. I will deduct 5 points each time the student is off task.
No one leaves until your work station is clean.
When you are absent:
It is your responsibility alone to make up your missed work.
You may come to me during your scheduled time on the assigned day.
You have 3 days to complete your missed work.
Your work will be in the “Did You Miss Something?” folder with your class period labeled on the front.
Homework and class assignments:
All homework and class assignments are due the day after being assigned and at the beginning of class, unless stated.
Homework and class assignments will be graded.
Student expectations for intercom announcements/ calling students to the office:
When announcements are made, you will listen carefully.
There will be no talking during announcements.
Calling a student to the office does not require a comment.
Student writing or passing notes:
Writing or passing notes in class is not allowed.
Any notes found will be confiscated and mailed home to the parents.
Remember, if you write notes during class, you are missing quality learning time. Don’t forget that the iLEAP test is our worst enemy.
Throwing away paper:
You are responsible for keeping your work area clean.
You may not get up during class to throw things away.
Trash may be thrown away at the end of class as you exit the room.
