Welcome/Good Things

Approval of minutes from October 2013. Motion by Tim Blackmer, seconded by Heather Post to approve the minutes from October 2, 2013. Motion carried.

Social Contract feedback assignments Ben Kirby reviewed theDSICC Social Contract.

Building School Improvement celebrations and calls for assistance All buildings shared programs that are cause for "celebration" and/or success this current school year.

Jefferson – Addressing the needs of all learners Matt Vogel stated that Jefferson Elementary school are not just focusing on the bottom 30% this current school year. All Jefferson staff are working hard and doing some "heavy lifting" at school. Matt shared all of the areas the staff is focusing on this school year. The teaching staff is utilizing Curriculum Crafter, Hair on Fire, and other resources, etc. to enhance the needs of all learners. Each team of teachers uses specific, measurable goals for this school year. The students are receiving instruction at their level. Ben talked about the "just right" instruction. During the “just right” instruction, the time is dedicated to the students without any interruptions. The "just right" instruction is an intense 1.5 hours of focused instruction. Matt said that right now Jefferson is focusing on reading until January 2014.

Survey of Enacted Curriculum Kathy Dole presented information from the SEC Reports website through the Wisconsin Center for Education Research. Kathy showed the chart types available for the district’s use. The website allows our district to compare itself with other states and what they are accomplishing. It also allows IPS to compare our Common Core implementation with the Common Core standards. Individual teachers can compare their data to the expectations of Common Core and Webb’s Depth of Knowledge.

Perception surveys – parents Each school had time to review fall parent teacher conference survey results housed on surveymonkey.

District School Improvement Plan review Ben shared a copy of the plan with all participants. Building representatives were asked to review and make any changes and/or updates to the district plan.

MDE Update – Superintendent Flanigan Ben stated that the DSICC Committee may wish to listen to the podcast from Superintendent Flanigan. The link is on the agenda.

Social Contract evaluation Committee members provided feedback.
