Energi2020 is Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality’s vision to become self-sufficient in renewable energy by year 2020. This means that we produce as much, renewable energy as the citizens and businesses in the municipality consumes. This applies to housing, workplaces and transport. On our Energy Tour, we experience the newest forms of technology for district heating, wind and solar energy. The stories told along the way of the fiery souls themselves who have made these giant projects into reality. We drive through Denmark's largest on shore wind farm. We see 30,000 m2 solar heating systems, as well as a huge 9-acre field based solar cell. We hear about local ownership and see how three large wind turbines on the beach of Hvide Sande create development and synergy between energy, industry and tourism. Along the way, we see the beautiful landscape of West Jutland on the edge of the fjord and the wild North Sea.

The journey after the biogas plant will take place along the beautiful west coast with stop at Lighthouse Bovbjerg. The trip will provide an opportunity to see and hear about renewable energy initiatives and the many wind turbines in Jutland - including the plans for the two coastal wind farms in the North Sea, as well as test station for large wind turbines in Høvsøre. The test station, operated by the Technical University of Denmark, is essential for the industry's development of new turbines types.
