The job of the Investment Analyst is basically to analyze the information about the companies and all the other persons related to the investment and then take the right decisions about the investments. The analyst must represent his or her analysis using charts, graphs, and summarize the findings of the management and analyze the company’s financial statements. The analyst must also recommend the fund managers for the modifications in the investment plans based on the market trends.
- Duties and responsibilities
An investment analyst has to fulfill a number of duties and responsibilities and they are as following:
- ANALYZING THE INFORMATION: The person needs to analyze the financial information and interpreting them decisively with regard to investments properly.
- ANALYZING THE STATEMENTS: He or she has to analyze the financial statements and records time to time.
- HELPING IN IVESTMEMTS PLANS: He or she has to recommend the fund managers for any kind of changes and the suggestions in investment plans and procedures
- PREPARING THE REPORTS: He or she has to create the reports and summaries from the analyzed financial data timely when needed.
- MAINTAIN THE COORDINATION: He or she has the duty to coordinate between clients, attorneys and investment bankers properly.
- OVERSEE THE TRENDS: He or she has to keep an eye and keep a close watch on the changing economic trends in market and then accordingly suggest changes in investment strategies.
- BE IN CONTACT WITH THE BROKERS: It will be the duty to call upon and keep in touch with the brokers and purchase investments for the company.
- ANALYZING THE LEGAL DOCUMENTS: He or she has to analyze the legal documents of the client companies time to time as it is a very vital matter
- HOLDING THE MEETINGS: He or she has to provide the information to the staff also so will have to hold the regular meetings with management and fund managers.
Skills and Specifications
The candidate desiring to do the job of a financial analyst should have the following needed skills and specifications:
- KNOWLEDGE OF FINANACIAL THINGS: The candidate should have a very strong understanding of financial information, statistics and economics so will be able to work in the atmosphere.
- EXPERT IN COLLECTING THE INFORMATION: He or she has to be an expert in interpreting information and then using it effectively.
- SKILLS: The candidate needs to have very strong written and oral communication skills to be able to communicate with anybody.
- ANALYTICAL SKILLS: He or she should have good and strong analytical and quantitative skills as it is the work related to that.
- COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE: The candidate should have basic computer knowledge as will have to prepare the reports with the help of that.
- DECISION MAKING ABILITY: The candidate should have strong and good decision-making ability so will be able to take the decisions on the right time.
- HARD WORKING: The candidate needs to be very hard working so he or she should have the ability to work under deadline pressures, willing to work long hours as it will be the part of the job.
Education and Qualifications
- BASIC DEGREE: The basic degree which is required for the job is that the candidate should at least have a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accountancy, statistics, economics or related subject.
- It will be added as an advantage if the candidate will have a Master’s degree in business administration.
