Invention Fair – The Quest to Invent Profit

As you may now be aware (thanks to your discovery of such inventions as the “pet rock” and the “tranger”, it is possible to create an invention that can possibly bring you instant success, and perhaps more importantly, instant profit.

Your task is to create a new invention that you will be marketing to two distinctive groups. This invention is entirely of your creation and must be unlike any item ever thought of before. The point is for your group to discuss a “need” you believe it not being filled by a certain consumer product and then create a product to fill that need.

Your invention must have a total production cost (not including labour) of less than $10 (CDN)

You must create a working prototype of your invention for consumer inspection.

The two distinctive groups that you will be marketing to are:

  1. The Invention Fair will be conducted in class and requires a large poster/kiosk display of your product. The goal of this display is to show potential end users the benefits of your product and entice them into purchasing your product.
  2. The Sales Presentation will be conducted via a Power Point presentation and will be made to Mr. Dempsey as though he were the regional purchasing manager of a large national store chain. The goal of this presentation will be to prove to Mr. Dempsey that he must sell your product in his store in order to meet the needs of his customers. Your presentation should be no longer than 5 minutes in length and should be centred on proving why your product deserves to be sold nationally.
