Introductory Activity EvaluationDumlao (SP2017)

Working as an online team/group is increasingly important in today’s career world. Your abilities to be an effective virtual team member is great to share on a resume or in a job interview!

The purpose of this initial activity was to help group members develop trust and accountability. In addition, the group as a whole was to determine:

a) Types of communication to use for various group tasks and discussion

b) Roles for each assignment (as assigned by Dr. D)

c) Means of determining how to manage disagreements or differences in group

Research on small group communication tells us that effective groups must attend to both “task goals” (i.e. getting the job done) and “social dimensions” (i.e. having positive relationships and creating a positive climate so that people want to work together). Rothwell, J.D. (2007). In Mixed Company: Communicating in Small Groups and Teams. Boston, MA: Wadsworth/Cengage.

Important Note: Each group member's assigned role could be related more distinctly to task or social functions. But, people often do more than more than one function in a group. So think about everything that happened within the group when you complete this evaluation form.
