Introduction to Mapping - Design Your Own Mall!

Using pages 5-6 as a guide, your task is to design your very own shopping mall on a blank sheet of paper. Use the checklist to ensure you’ve included everything before handing in.

Step One: using a ruler, put a frame around your map.

Step Two: put a title at the top of your map

Step Three: make an organized legend to show the meaning of the colors and

symbols you will use.

Step Four: Show the compass direction ‘north’ at the top of the page. Draw a

letter N with an arrow pointing in the right direction

Step Five: Design a scale and put it on your map (i.e one cm=100 meters)

Step Six: Draw and label features on the map. Your mall must have at least fifteen stores, a washroom, food court, two separate entrances and an information desk . Labels should be printed and horizontal. All stores must be named, numbered, and included on the legend. The map must also be colored in using pencil crayons.
