Water Wellbeing Week – get prepared

Water Wellbeing Week is 30 September – 4 October.

There are lots of activities including:

-A healthy living roadshow

-‘Halt for health’ stand down

-Healthy recipe competition

-Sponsored pedometer competition – the Executive exercise

Get prepared
There are a few things you need to prepare in advance.

  1. Team activity

At your next meeting think about what activity you’ll do during Water Wellbeing Week. Simple is best – you could all drink water instead of tea or coffee for the week, how about doing a team lunchtime walk every day? Decide together and send a short summary to . Remember to plan and prepare for this. Send photos to the health and wellbeing mailbox during Water Wellbeing Week. The best ideas will be featured in November’s Source.

  1. Charity nomination
Two charities will benefit from money raised during Water Wellbeing Week; WaterAid and a health charity of your choice. Money will be shared equally. Help us by sending details of your preferred health charity, reasons we should choose it (including personal stories, if applicable) and your contact details to by 16 September. The successful entry will be drawn from a hat. The story behind the winning entry will be publicised, alongside promotion of the charities.
  2. Book your place at ‘stay on top’ taster training
We realise sometimes it’s not just the water that’s under pressure in our organisation. Our jobs are busy and we often need to be resilient to keep everything going. The Safety, Health and Wellbeing training team have developed emotional resilience training for all our staff and are offering a series of 15 minute taster sessions, called ‘stay on top’, at the roadshow [link roadshow timetable]. To take advantage of this great opportunity, please speak to your manager to agree the best time for you to go, then book your place through the SAP learning pages. It’s for everyone, but spaces are limited so book now to avoid disappointment.
  1. Book your mini-health check
Healthy Performance, our mini-health check providers, are already doing the rounds of Thames Water, helping our Operations colleagues to find out their numbers and take early action if needed. You can take advantage of this scheme by booking onto one of our mini-health checks during the roadshow. Book by contacting xxxx.
