JOB TITLE: Radio Intern

DEPARTMENT: Production

EXPENSES: £5 lunch per day and £20 per week towards travel

DURATION: 12 months

LOCATION: London

HOURS OF WORK: 6.30am – 14.30pm (3 days per week)

REPORTING TO: Programming Director

PURPOSE OF ROLE
To undertake the Premier Christian Radio internship program with a view to develop and train an individual’s skills and experience within the production department.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·  You will be working across Premier Christian Radio supporting live shows and working under the guidance of the Programme Director, teaching you programming planning, editing, and interview booking.
·  You will need to provide information about forthcoming programmes/guests/themes and competitions to the Station Director (when necessary) and in the Programme Diary.
·  We will teach you to take calls, coach callers, and select the best on-air contributors to live programming, and give you the chance to run phone-ins on air.
·  You will also learn how to run a radio studio and use portable recording equipment, as well as digitally editing and mixing the results. This means you will be able to produce your own radio programming, under supervision of the Programme Director.
·  You will also have the chance to work across other content platforms, with up to 25% of your time being spent working on copy or media for online and social media, research or writing for magazines, and getting involved in video production too.
·  We will train you in the production of trails and features based on programme(s)
·  If possible, we will send you to Outside Broadcasts to learn how remote programming works.
·  Creative contribution to Editorial team meetings when you are present
·  Additional support to other shows where necessary and where time allows.
·  To ensure that Premier’s commitment to quality and equality in both dealing with members of staff and the general public is delivered at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
·  Degree level education or equivalent
·  Experience of working on multiple projects
·  An understanding of new media
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
·  Proactivity, confidence and the ability to work effectively on own initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities
·  Excellent communication skills
·  Excellent interpersonal skills
·  IT literacy in Microsoft Office or equivalent
·  Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own time effectively
·  Ability to research and analyse information
·  Good attention to detail.
·  Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage a varied workload.
·  Web/video/audio editing and production skills (desirable)
