OVERVIEW
This course consists of three months of full-time work experience in a qualifyingposition in the golf industry. Qualifying work experiences are defined by the PGA of America’s constitution. Internships are conducted in many different positions and areas.
Course Description
PGA 280 - Internship in Golf Management II (0 credits) (Prereq: PGMP 180) Three month full-time co-op work experience meeting the eligible employment guidelines outlined in the PGA of America’s Constitution. Internship is continuation of PGMP 180. Pass/Fail grading only. Su.
Course Restrictions
This course is restricted to students enrolled in the PGA Professional Golf Management Program.
Course Objectives
This course is the second in a series of four internship in the Professional Golf Management Program. The primary objectives of the course are:
- To experience the daily operations of a golf course.
- To explore career possibilities in the golf industry.
Learning Outcomes – Internship II
Through participation in an internship experience, and mentoring by a class “A” member of the PGA of America, the student will:
- become familiar with the day to day operations in a golf industry setting;
- obtain knowledge that will assist them in completing Level 1 work experience activities;
- expose students to different career possibilities in the golf industry.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
- Students must work full-time (min. 36 hours per week) for a three month period
- An evaluation of the students progress will be completed by their immediate supervisor
- Post internship meeting must be conducted with the students Internship Director to address the internship site as well student performance
GRADING
The final internship grade is the responsibility of the Internship Director. The grade will be pass/fail.
