Dates: Flexible6 months (full time) or equivalent hours (part-time) beginningon (or around) October 2017.

This position is located in Everglades National Park.The purpose of the position is to provide administrative and clerical support to the Environmental Education Program.

•Answers the telephone in a professional manner. Provides information about the program, redirects phone calls as needed, responds to teacher inquiries.

•Assists with program scheduling and calendars. Communicates with schools and/or teachers to sort out scheduling conflicts and possible alternatives.

•Provides program confirmations to teachers and maintains accurate records to ensure that all appropriate documentation is received and completed

•Communicates with teachers and bus company through email.

•Compiles and submits program calendars.

•Uses computer and appropriate softwareincluding Word, Excel, and Access for data collection, program scheduling and confirmations.

•Identifies, communicates and maintains an accurate list of Teacher Workshop candidates and rosters.

•Maintains an accurate list of transportation requirements for individual schools.

•Drafts correspondence to teachers and schools.

•Provides administrative support for Education Staff.

•Assists with teacher workshops and other educational programming as requested.

•Assists surrounding park districts with visitor services that may include working in a visitor center assisting visitors with trip planning, answering questions about the park, using a cash register, and learning about the ecology of the area.

Basic Requirements.Must have valid state driver’s license. Must have transportation to and from the job site. Must be able to drive a government vehicle. Must pass a background investigation.Full time or part time work available.Special projects and/or opportunities for cross training may be assigned based on park needs and intern interests/skills.

Special Notes - Physical Demands/Work Environment.Working conditions will include exposure to venomous animals, poisonous plants, biting and stinging insects as well as heat and humidity. Additionally, based on the interest/skills of the intern conditions may include walking and hiking on and off trails over uneven surfaces and in wetlands.

Position Compensation. The selected applicant will be compensated at a rate of $15 per hour over 26 hours per work week. Flexible schedules during the school year could be accommodated. A transportation stipend of $40 a week for 26 weeks will also be provided to the successful candidate.
