Internet Safety Lesson Plan – Cyber Bullying

Introduction

  1. This lesson will teach students about the dangers Internet users face will online and about how to react if they or someone they know are being targeted by a cyber-bully.

  4. Students will learn be able to distinguish warningsigns that someone is being bullied through the use of collaborative discussion.
  5. Students will know what to do should they be targeted by cyber-bullying as determined by online and class activities.

  8. How can you recognize and react to cases of cyber-bullying?

  11. PowerPoint presentation
  12. Procedures
  13. Show students a public service announcement concerning cyber-bullying to introduce the topic and discuss.
  14. Show students a PowerPoint presentation about general statistics, warning signs, and effective and safe ways to react to cyber-bullying through a Google Doc.
  15. Give students a scenario and have them discuss in groups ways to solve the situation and about how parents, teachers, and administrators should do in the scenario.
  16. Have students share their ideas with the class and debate about how much legal authority schools have in the situation.
  17. Have students complete the quizzes on Brain Pop. (

  19. Assign students a worksheet for homework which entails searching on Stomp Out Bullying ( Have them search a news article or experience story and write a reflection paper.
