Dr. Doug Cassady B.S. in Physical Education from Texas A & M University, DMIN and MDIV from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; 28+ years ministry experience that includes 11 years as a missions pastor. Dr. Cassady launched Synergy Missions Solutions Network and Synergy Sports Camps in 2011 and serves as Executive Director. Since then his leadership, training, and equipping of churches in church-to-church partnerships (CCPs) and effective missions solutions guides the Synergy Missions network as it continues to grow. Synergy Sports Camps are one branch of the network and it is through the CCP approach to sports ministry that Synergy Sports Camps is becoming an influential model for sports ministry. In the past 13 years, one sports-focused CCP has developed into 14 sports-focused CPPs that have seen nearly 10,000 kids/teens along with many friends and family members hear the Good News of Christ. The spiritual impact of these camps continues as the local churches of the partnerships reach out to all involved. Synergy Sports Camps can currently be found in New York, Germany, and El Salvador. Furthermore, God is now opening new partnerships in other regions of the world. He also serves as an adjunct professor of missions at the San Antonio extension of Logsdon Seminary. He lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, Brenda. They have 2 adult children, Colton, a junior at Texas A & M University, and Amber who lives in Colorado and works for Group Publishing. Doug and his wife Brenda are members of Austin Ridge Bible Church of Austin, Texas where they are Life Group Leaders and Doug serves on the Global Missions Advisory Team.
Jonathan Detweileris CSRM's Director of International Initiatives.Jonathan has personally trained Sports Outreach Ministers in over 70 countries and is a long time veteran of the Sports Outreach Movement. He previously served AIA for ten years in the Netherlands, where he helped develop and grow the Dutch AIA staff into the 3rd largest AIA contingency in the world.Detweiler began his Sports Outreach Ministry career with Church Sports International where he was trained and mentored by Rodger Oswald.Detweiler also serves on the staff of Uttermost Sports which is a ministry using sport to plant churches throughout the 10-40 window.A recognized world leader within the Sports Outreach Movement, Detweiler's manuals have been translated into a number of different languages and he has produced an instructional video series in conjunction with CSRM's Executive Director for the purpose of training CSRM's international staff and global network partners.The video series is available to all CSRM Associate Partners and designed to help International Sports Outreach Ministers to understand and apply the 3-Tier Paradigm organizational structure for strategically-relevant and efficiently-effective Sports Outreach.Jonathan has just returned from both a month in Nepal where he trained leaders from over 150 different churches and another month throughout Africa where additionally 100's of church leaders were encouraged, trained and resourced.Jonathan lives in northwestern United States where he enjoys the challenges of raising two teen-age daughters.
Dave Erickson grew up in Corvallis, OR where God used a church’s sports ministry to bring him to salvation at age 16. Dave received his undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Northwestern College, MN (1991) and his Masters in Physical Education from Arizona State University (2012). During undergraduate years, Dave served with Sports Ambassadors (SA) several summers and one six-month extended service. Using sports as a tool to reach the lost and edify the believer quickly became his passion. In 1993, Dave met Tracy Uhlmann in Mexico while setting up a sports ministry outreach, and they were married in 1994. From 2001-2011, they lived and served in Singapore and China teaching in international schools and engaging in sports ministry. Currently, Dave serves full-time with SA. Dave and Tracy have four children: Kari (18), Caleb (17), Joshua (14), and Amy (13). The Ericksons currently reside in Colorado Springs, CO.
Rodger Oswald is a Sports Outreach pioneer and is regarded as a mentor, professor, and consultant by hundreds of people from around the world. Long recognized as a leading apologist for local church sports outreach, Rodger’s impact is felt not only in scores of countries around the world but will also resound in the hearts and lives of countless thousands of people as his influence has served to bring those people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He was a founding Board member of CSRM and the ISC and the founder and former director of Church Sports International. Rodger has written a series of manuals, is a regular blogger for CSRM, and is in much demand as a presenter at Sports Outreach conferences. He has served as a Sports Minister in three local churches, developed training curriculum, created a Global Network Training (GNP) program and served in 75 countries developing Sports Ministry in the local church.
Jonathan Smithis a 25 year veteran of pastoral ministries. Having served in many capacities in the church, his passion is watching individuals and entire churches come to life through missional engagement. Jonathan is the lead pastor of the First Baptist Church of La Grange, Texas, a “turn around church” that has grown in a decade from 35 people and $1.06 in the bank to a church of 450 and currently relocating. Much of the turn around is due to missional partnerships and sports partnerships that have refocused the once dying congregation on the Great Commission. Jonathan is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in church health and growth from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
