MINUTES of the BUSINESS MEETING

PRESENT: Lino MURAROTTO, Bob CLEMENTS, Les BODROGI, Francesco MANCHISI, Joe RIZZUTI, Colin HAWKES, Gary HEADS, Giuliano ROSSI, John DOMONKOS, Harry SUMMERTON, Jim DALLIMORE and Malina NICOARA.

1915 The meeting was called to order. Les BODROGI in the chair.

Confirmation of the agenda and minutes.

Motion to accept minutes as submitted made by Harry, seconded by Lino. Passes.

TRAVEL

Harry’s Travel Report was accepted as submitted.

MEMBERSHIP

·  Dave sent out report.

NEWSLETTER

·  Lou is absent.

SUPPLIES

·  Colin informs that he has golf shirts in L and XL.

·  He also ordered ball caps.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Christmas Dinner – Sat. 09 December 2017

·  Joe advises he met with the new director of the hall on the 21st of Oct., and the meeting was successful.

·  He liked the decorations of the hall: Joe took pictures and he passed them around the table.

·  Joe will ask Paul DEAN to add the pictures to the blast out.

·  The DJ (same one as last year) will charge the same as he did before and he will be there 1800 hrs to midnight.

·  Jim and Lorna will dress as Santa and Mrs. Claus at the beginning of the party (1800-1900), for meeting, greeting and pictures

·  John will take pictures at the event. He talked about a location for the pictures.

·  Joe will meet with John at the venue and will decide on the location of the pictures.

·  Joe informs that the venue wants the exact number of people attending and dietary requirements a week in advance.

·  No tickets were produced. Some people ask why. They want the hard copy. Joe will make copies of the tickets we issued a couple of years ago.

·  A better wine was discussed. The manager said he will accommodate.

TREASURER’s REPORT

·  Farhan advised current balance. Please submit any reimbursement requests at the next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Motions:

1.  Members with 50+ years in the IPA shall not be required to pay their yearly membership. Will be put over until the next meeting for voting.

2.  Region 2 to absorb the cost of 2 tickets to the Christmas dinner for the CN Tower security manager Al LEATHEM and guest. Passed.

3.  Region 2 to absorb the cost of 2 tickets to the Christmas dinner for the president of the Toronto Carabinieri Association Tonino GIALLONARDO and guest. Passed.

Christmas Party:

·  Lino asks if we will again buy $50.00 gift cards for the Christmas party.

Motion made to let Lino use $400.00 from our region’s funds to buy $50.00 gift cards made by Jim, seconded by Joe. Passed.

·  Poinsettias were bought last year for the tables.

Motion made for Lino to buy 16 poinsettias and chocolates made by John, seconded by Bob. Passed.

·  John suggested we consider giving away some IPA items from our supplies stock.

·  Jim stated he has 20 IPA mugs among his memorabilia that he can bring 10.

·  Lino suggested we can also give away some hats.

·  Joe will coordinate with Colin and Jim and will get the items together, then inform Chris.

·  John offered to wrap the gifts, once they’re chosen.

·  Joe will have a corner table set up for these prizes.

·  Joe wants the cheque with the total for before the party. It will be discussed in the next meeting.

·  Joe asks that we don’t arrive later than 1915 for dinner.

Website

·  Lino spoke to Tom RATAJ, who is interested in setting up a new website for us, looking for a new, cheaper host.

·  He will do a template for the site, one that’s easy to maintain.

·  John has a server which can host our website for free.

·  Lino will get in touch with John to help with the setup. John said that Tom will do the whole setup.

·  Lino wants to create something more dynamic, vs. what we now have.

·  We hope to have this up and running in a couple of months.

Breakfast Club Gala

·  Lino is looking for volunteers for Sunday 26 November 2017 at 0900 help with unloading toys from a tractor trailer.

·  Monday 27 November 2017 we have to be there around 0830 at the very latest to help with setup.

Dues

·  Les suggested that we consider raising our yearly fees. Joe informs that the dues are up to National and are set up by International.

·  Joe challenged the idea.

·  Better advertising of the IPA needs to take place.

·  John suggested we make calls to members to inform them of upcoming events.

·  We will look for a committee to contact members of Region 2, for special events and participation.

Meeting adjourned at 2056 hrs.
