DRAMplan2011 Symposium
International meeting dedicated to issues of staging contemporary plays
DRAMplan2011 Symposium is an international meeting of playwrights, literary managers, translators, festival programmers and representatives of theatre agencies. The main aim of the meeting is exchange of experience in production and staging of national and foreign contemporary drama from the point of view of a playwright, literary manager and translator/theatre agent/festival programmer. DRAMplan 2011 Symposium takes place within the accompanying program of the Prague Quadrennial PQ+.

Discussion on writing and staging contemporary drama with following guests:

- James Gerard Bradley (Great Britain); former literary manager of the National Theatre in London, playwright, pedagogue.
- Christopher Campbell (Great Britain); literary manager of the RoyalCourtTheatre in London, actor, translator.
- Glòria Balañà (Spain); independent director of contemporary drama.
- Yvonne Büdenhölzer (Germany); literary manager and pedagogue, artistic director of Stückemarkt at the Berliner Theaterftreffen Festival, pedagogue at the Freie Universität in Berlin.
- Michail Ugarov (Russia); playwright, director, scriptwriter, artistic director of the Teatr.doc theatre.
Moderators:
- Barbora Schnelle (Czech Republic/Germany); translator, publisher and cultural manager, co-founder of the Drama Panorama project focused on connection of playwrights and translator with practical theatre.
- Jan Hančil (Czech Republic); former literary manager of the National Theatre in Prague, translator, Dean of the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, specialist in pedagogy of acting and modern English and American theatre and drama.

The organizer of the symposium is the Arts and Theatre Institute. The Arts and Theatre Institute (ATI) is a governmental organization founded by the Ministry of Culture of the CzechRepublic. The mission of the Arts and Theatre Institute is to provide the Czech and international public with a comprehensive range of services in the field of theatre and individual services connected to other branches of the arts (music, literature, dance and the visual arts). The ATI collects objects and work relating to the theatre, processes and provides access to them, pursues research, initiates and participates in international projects, and publishes scholarly work.
The co-organizer of the symposium is the Centre for Contemporary Drama. The Centre for Contemporary Drama is the main project of the Theatre Letí from Prague. The mission of the CCD is to guarantee the development of Czech drama as well as mutual cooperation with other EU states to ensure circulation of contemporary European plays.
The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space is the largest scenographyevent in the world presenting contemporary work in a variety of performance design disciplines and genres: costume, stage, lighting, sound design, and theatre architecture for dance, opera, drama, site specific, multi-media performances, and performance art, etc. The PQ takes place from 16th to 26th June 2011.
