The libraries around the world have been facing unprecedented changes due to the growing digital and ICT revolutions in the recent past. Libraries expect both evolution and revolution in present time to reshape and reinvent themselves not only to respond to the pressures of users and technology, but to be flexible enough to adapt to the world of tomorrow.
Libraries need to deal with increased competition from rising users expectations, which is brought about by convenience and availability of advance technologies on the web. The challenge for libraries is to understand the technologies that are reshaping and will continue to reshape the future and how to strategically adapt themselves. The way users think about libraries is already changing dramatically. With increasing digitization and inter-connectivity, it is important for libraries to cultivate an ecosystem of innovation around its users. Implementation of innovative technologies in libraries like use of self service printing, improved scanning solutions, use of drones for delivering books, mobile technologies for disseminating information, electronic publishing and knowledge organization systems, cloud computing applications, data mining and text analytics, augmented reality, context-aware computing and several other technological tools is becoming very essential. The International Conference on Reshaping Libraries: Emerging Global Technologies and Trends (ICRL-2018) is going to discuss these and other pressing issues for librarians around the world and would also aim at identifying technologies that would suit the libraries and LIS Professionals. The International Conference is being organized as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of DELNET - Developing Library Network in collaboration with the Ambedkar University, Delhi; Society for Library Professionals (SLP) and Special Libraries Association (SLA, USA), Asian Chapter from February 1-3, 2018.
