SECTION B: SCOPE OF THE ROLE
JOB PURPOSE
Working in the Parliamentary Health & Wellbeing Service, you will assist the Head of Health & Wellbeing to deliver a comprehensive welfare service for staff of both Houses.

Location
This post will be located on the Parliamentary Estate.
Hours
Consideration will be given to candidates who wish to work part-time or as part of a job share. If you are selected for interview please inform the panel of the days/hours you are available to work.
Bands A – E Positions
Net conditioned full-time working hours for staff of the House are usually 36 per week. This excludes daily meal breaks of one hour.
The exact daily times of attendance will be agreed with line management.

SECTION C: JOB SPECIFICATION
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
  • Provide counselling, advice and support to House of Commons, House of Lords and PDS staff and managers. Assessing the most appropriate theoretical approach to take on a case by case basis in relation to mental health and wellbeing issues of employees.
  • Keep up to date with best wellbeing practice and actively pursue your personal professional development,
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers on best practice when dealing with sensitive wellbeing issues relating to staff attendance and absence.
  • Assist the Head of PHWS in ensuring that PHWS makes available up-to-date wellbeing advice to managers and staff so that they may properly discharge their responsibilities,
  • Assist the Head of PHWS in providing subject/service specific reports or research as required,
  • Maintain records of activities and produce statistics/reports for managers and the organisation when required,
  • Participate in wellbeing events, such as raising awareness of mental health in the workplace. Maintain partnership links with in-house groups such as the Workplace Equality Networks.
  • Attend departmental attendance monitoring meetings and other working groups as necessary, providing advice and information when required,
  • Help to deliver training in relation to Wellbeing, and also seminars/inductions in relation to the wider services offered by the team,
  • Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins as directed.
  • Maintain external wellbeing network in order to maintain awareness of policy and best practice in the wider wellbeing community.

Essential
Diploma in Employee and Organisational Support or equivalent
Desirable
Accredited Member of BACP

Criteria 1-Experience of providing counselling and wellbeing advice and support within an occupational setting / X / X
Criteria 2-Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to draft letters and e-mails to a high professional standard / X / X
Criteria 3- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels / X / X
