Internal History Standards

§  Achievement Standards 1.1 and 1.2 and Unit Standards 5817 and 5809 will be done internally

§  The internal assessments will be marked and moderated by Mrs Schertenleib and Mr Burnard.

§  You will have time in class and at home to complete 1.1 and 1.2.

§  You will prepare for US5817 and 5809 in class and for home learning and will complete the assessments in the term 2 school exams.

§  These internal assessments are worth 16 Credits. As you are able to put more effort and time into them you should be able to get good results. They are as valuable as your external standards and as much concern and effort should be put into them.

§  If you do not achieve AS 1.1 , 1.2, US 5817 or 5819 you will be given an opportunity to resubmit the part of the assessment that was inaccurate

External History Standards

§  There will be a three hour external exam at the end of the year. The external standards in this exam are worth 12 credits.

§  You will complete 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 in that exam. 1.3 is skills based, 1.4 and 1.5 are based on content covered throughout the year.

§  Throughout the year you will complete activities, home learning and two school exams that will help you to develop your skills for the external exam.

§  These practice activities are important as they represent how you are proceeding prior to the external exam.

*US5809 and AS90211 are mutually exclusive – the US is practice for the AS. If both standards are met only 4 credits can be counted towards your level 1 certificate.
