Basic Functions:

This position will be responsible for assisting with the establishment and overall maintenance of an audit quality assurance and improvement program as required by the Institute of Internal Auditors' (IIA's) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with the establishment and maintenance a fully functioning quality assurance and improvement program that will improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of internal audit processes and enhance the ability to provide high quality internal audit services to the various stakeholders.
  • Perform key duties related to the ongoing quality monitoring processes and coordination of periodic external assessments as required.
  • Primarily responsible for the performance of periodic internal assessments and providing feedback to the internal audit teams, including identification of training or development needs.
  • Develop and improve internal audit policies and procedures as reflected in the Internal Audit Manual to ensure compliance with IIA Standards. Educate internal audit staff on changes to internal audit policies and procedures to ensure continual compliance.
  • Perform key duties related to the management of division training and the related training sections of the Internal Audit Manual. Monitor and track staff certifications, training and continuing education.
  • Assume overall responsibility for unique audit administrative projects necessary to the ongoing efficient functioning of the department and as directed by management.
  • Complete budgets accurately and timely, regularly monitors budget results and perform other ad hoc budget duties as requested.
  • Perform ongoing administrative duties including, reporting, committee and project participation, and risk assessment activities.
  • Keep informed of developments in the audit profession and continue to develop professionally to contribute to department expertise.
  • Proactively advise and consult on efforts to enhance various audit approaches, including integrated auditing and Model Audit Rule coordination and new software support.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Threeyears of Internal Audit experience required.
  • Extensive educational background and experience in accounting, auditing, and information systems and technology.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation or in progress towards receiving the CIA designation.
  • Extensive knowledge of auditing techniques and insurance principles.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects and to be flexible with multiple project assignments.
  • Ability to independently analyze information and determine significant issues.
  • Proficiency with Office software and programs.
  • Strong knowledge of administrative/financial systems and related control requirements.
  • Sound judgment, inquisitiveness, and strong analytical ability.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with all levels of management, staff and external entities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • High level of detail orientation.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or moreyears of Internal Audit experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Company and Division processes and procedures.
  • Ability to perform self-directed research and investigation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of The Institute of Internal Auditors International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
