Your interim report
Date project actually started: November 2015
We took some time to identify the sites that would be involved, as they had to be willing to use the film, and have sufficient numbers of women seeking termination to be able to evaluate it in their single setting.
We agreed in November 2015 uponthe following sites: Edinburgh(UK), Paris (France), Stockholm (Sweden) and Lisbon (Portugal) at a meeting of study investigators.
In February 2016 , we completed a script for the film. Some changes were made and all local site investigators agreed upon the final version.
Due to limited resources it was decided that filming would take place at the UK site and that the script would be translated for the 3 other languages (French, Swedish, Portuguese).
Progress with the project then stalled as the clinician who was going to arrange and oversee the filming had other competing priorities and the time required for conducting the filming , editing and recording was more significant than initially appreciated.
The main PI (Cameron) also became concerned that the filming from one location may look outdated quickly and images from a UK clinic may be less attractive to women in other countries. The solution was to develop an animated film.
A number of animated film companies that develop patient information animated films were considered.
‘Muckle Hen’ a local Edinburgh company who make sexual health animated films were chosen (based on quality and cost) to produce the animation for the cost of the study budget (10K) (which is still less that than the 12K euro that we requested to a make this film)
This will result in a higher quality film that can be more easily applicable to all sites
The local languages can then be added by local sites.

Translations should take no longer than 30 March 2017.
We plan to start the evaluation of the film from April 2017, as each site will have a completed film and we enviasge that we will have a completed study report on the evaluation within 12 months.
Have there been any problems or issues with starting or continuing this project? If so, what impact will that have on your planned completion date?
As above- Limited resources and reliance on staff availability has resulted in delays.
The 4 sites and 4 languages makes this a challenging project on a very small budget.
That said, we feel that the decision to finance an animated version will result in a higher quality film.
Have you discussed the project status and any problems with your Mentor?
I have discussed the issues with co investigators and we are agreed on the animated film approach.
