Interim Certification to 62/02

Prior to SE forms becoming available, submissions to ADR 62/02 should consist of a blank form set to ADR 62/02 with a SE 62/01 form attached. The SE 62/01 form should be filled out according to the type of coupling below:

  1. Fifth wheel assembly (complying with AS/NZS 4968 or Clause 6.2.1or ECE R55)
  2. Kingpin (complying with AS/NZS 4968 or Clause 7.2.1or ECE R55)
  3. Skid-Plate (complying with AS/NZS 4968and Clause 7.3)
  4. 40 or 50 mm Automatic Pin Coupling (complying with AS 2213or ECE R55)
  5. 50 mm Ball Coupling (complying with AS 4177.2or ECE R55)
  6. Coupling Bodies for 50 mm Ball Coupling (complying with AS 4177.3or ECE R55/01)
  7. Hook part of Hook Coupling (complying with Clause 11.2 or ECE R55)
  8. Towing Ring part of Hook Coupling (complying with Clause 11.4 or ECE R55)
  9. Other Couplings (complying with Clause 12)
  10. Towbar up to 3.5 tonnes ATM (complying with AS 4177.1)
  11. Towbar over 3.5 tonnes ATM (complying with Clause 13.2)
  12. Hinged Drawbar or Rigid Drawbar for pig trailer up to 3.5 tonnes (complying with Clause 14 or ECE R55)
  13. Rigid Drawbar for pig trailer up to 3.5 tonnes (complying with Clause 14 or ECE R55)
  14. Drawbar proven by calculation only (complying with Clause 14.2.3).

The form must be filled out as per normal up to Section 5. However, where an ECE approval is available, the ECE approval number must be reported in the “QAS Licence No.” box (and be compatible with R55, revision 01). It must then be reported in the box “If compliance demonstrated by calculation…………..” with the statement “Meets ADR 62/02” and either “ECE standard” or “ECE non-standard” depending on the type of coupling (the ECE has standard couplings and non-standard couplings of the same basic type). If this is the case, no further entries are required. Where the ECE test method has been used but no approval obtained, the remainder of the form must be filled out as per normal.
