CLASSES

  • Classes 1, 2, 3and 4 are divided into a School and a Pony Club section. Competitors must choose whether to represent their School or Pony Club
  • Classes 5-7 are not divided and all competitors whether NSEA or Pony Club and all individuals and teams compete against each other.
  • Competitors will jump only once in each class

Classes 1, 2,3 and 4 are grassroots classes aimed at very young or novice riders. The courses will be designed as such. Please embrace the grassroots spirit!
Grass Roots Regional Championships are on Sunday 20th November 2016 at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre.
Class 1 – Fences maximum 40cm. Course of 8 jumps, not timed. Judged on faults and style marks
Section 1A:Schools (NSEA members) Individuals and Teams.
Grass Roots Championship Qualifier (top 6 teams and individuals)
Section 1B: Pony Club –Individuals and Teams
Riders may be led or assisted.
Class 1 is not open to riders jumping in Classes 4, 5, 6 or 7.

Class 2 - Fences maximum 50cm. Course of 10 jumps, single phase.
Section 2A:Schools (NSEA members) Individuals and Teams.

ENTRIES

Entry fees: £12 (£10 for OHW PC members)

Teams: £8 per team (in addition to individual entry)

An additional fee of £4 for Paramedics is payable per competitor

RULES - NSEA 2015, PONY CLUB AND THE FOLLOWING TO APPLY:

ELIGIBILITY – this competition is restricted to Pony Club and NSEA members only. Classes are split into NSEA and Pony Club sections.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY - The judge’s decision is final. Entry fees cannot be refunded without a Vet or Doctor’s certificate. In any event, £5 will be retained to cover administration costs. No entry will be accepted without the correct fee and signed entry forms for all competitors.

CLASS SPECIFIC RULES – Section A in each class will run under NSEA rules and Section B will run under Pony Club rules.

  • For the NSEA rules please see the website : “NSEA General and Competition Rules 2015-16”.
  • In classes 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A a pony may be ridden by two different riders in the same class. In all remaining classes and sections no horse may compete in more than 3 classes or be ridden more than once in each class.

RUNNING ORDER - Classes will run in the following order: NSEA teams first then individuals, followed by Pony Club teams then Pony Club individuals. Competitors jump only once in each class. Competitors are responsible for being ready to compete when called. Please declare at your class at least 10 minutes before your start time.

PRIZES – Rosettes and prizes to be awarded for 1st to 4th for Teams in each section/classand 1st to 6th for Individuals in all sections/classes. Prize giving will be un-mounted, in correct dress at the end of each class. Special prizes for best rider in classes 1-4 and best Oakley Hunt West member in each class.

TEAMS -Riders may compete for either a School team or a Pony Club team. A rider may ride two horses/ponies in the same team provided the school or pony club has only one team in the class. Best 3 scores will count. Competitors jump only once whether individual or team and all team members automatically count as individuals.

GRASSROOTS QUALIFICATION - Top 6 teams and individuals in classes 1 and 2 and top 6 individuals in class 3 will qualify for the NSEA Grass Roots Championship to be held on 20th November 2016 at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre.

TEAM MANAGERS: Only the Team Manager of each school is to deal with the secretary for declarations, enquiries, objections etc. It is the responsibility of the team manager to declare their competitors on arrival at the venue and collect the numbers. Objections must be made in writing to the Secretary within 5 minutes of the conclusion of the relevant class with a £30 deposit. Video or photographic evidence is not admissible

TV/ PHOTOGRAPHY/WEBSITE/PRESS–Please note that professional photographers (SBM Photographic) will be present and photographs available to purchase on the day. There may also be TV cameras at the Championships. If you do not wish for your child to be photographed or to appear in results in the equestrian press or the OHW Pony Club website, please indicate on the Entry Form.

REFRESHMENTS - will be available from onsite indoor cafe

DOGS - must be kept under control and on a lead at all times.

HELMETS -Pony Club riders must have hats which have been tagged.

PARAMEDICS – will be in attendance.

VET - on call service will be provided by Hampden Veterinary Hospital, Baskerville, Horgan & Partners

DISCLAIMER –Save for the death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers, or anyone for whom they are in law responsible, neither the organisers of this event nor the Pony Club nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies, nor the landlord or his tenant, accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, cars, their contents and accessories, or any other personal property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. Entries are only accepted on this basis.

The organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards. All competitors and those associated with their school or pony club are the responsibility of the Team Manager whilst at the competition.

CANCELLATION - the organisers reserve the right to cancel the event, in which case entry fees will be refunded (less £2 per competitor). In the event of adverse weather conditions the competition will be rescheduled, please check the Oakley Hunt West website for information.
