PART I - GENERAL
1.01SECTION INCLUDES
Manual Bi-Way - swing/fold door package. Perform installation by the local certified Besam Distributor. For the name and number of your local Besam distributor, call toll-free (866)237-2687.

1.03PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Manual door equipment accommodates up to 80 pound (36 kg) weight of doors. Provide header support every 12".
1.04SUBMITTALS
A.Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product data and standard details for manual doors.
B.Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings for the fabrication and installation of manual doors and associated components of the work. Include anchors, hardware and other components not included in manufacturer's standard data.
1.05OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA
Spare parts lists and installation manual are available from the manufacturer.
1.06QUALIFICATIONS
Company specializing in manufacturing the products specified in this section shall have minimum ten years experience and be a member of the American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM). Prior to placing door(s) in operation, an AAADM technician should inspect the doors for compliance with current ANSI/BHMA 156.10 American National Standard for Power Operated Pedestrian Doors.
Manufacturer to provide FACTORY owned central dispatch system for warranty service throughout North America. System to be available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year with a factory employee (not an answering service) to obtain malfunction information and dispatch appropriate service agency to the customer location. Toll free 1-877-BESAM-US to be prominently displayed on header of each operator. To insure quality service dispatching, outside contractors or answering services will not be accepted.
1.07WARRANTY
Besam's automatic door components are warranted to be free of defects in materials or workmanship under normal use for a period of one year from the date of shipment from Besam's factory when the components have been installed by an authorized Besam distributor. Abuse, misuse, modification or improper repair or service by unauthorized technicians negates this warranty. During the period of this warranty Besam, at its sole option, will repair or replace any Besam automatic door component or parts thereof found to be defective in material or workmanship if any necessary return charges are prepaid. Components repaired or replaced under this warranty are warranted only for the remainder of the period covered by this warranty. For expanded warranty terms see Besam’s warranty certificate.
PART II PRODUCTS
2.01MANUFACTURER
Provide manual Bi-Way swing/fold door package as manufactured by Besam Entrance Solutions, Monroe, NC 28110. Package includes combination of 2 panel bi-fold and 1 double acting swing door with door closer, header support housing and finger guards. Perform installation by the local certified Besam Distributor.
2.02EQUIPMENT
PACKAGE:
The manual Bi-Way swing/fold door package is available in a 3 panel configuration. Swing door with double acting door closer is on one side (right or left, as specified) with 2 panel bi-fold doors. Bi-fold doors can be ordered to fold in either interior or exterior direction.
ALUMINUM FRAMES AND DOORS:
Aluminum frames and doors for the ICU/CCU are fabricated of 6063-T5 alloy. All extruded members serving as structural support are 6063-T5 alloy.
Two panel bi-fold door includes: top and bottom door pivot system and rubber (Hytrel) roller wheel on the slave leaf. Bi-fold door includes a horizontal pull handle on the fold side. Swing door includes a custom door pull handle on both sides. Swing door can be pushed or pulled on either side of the door and includes a door closer with 90 degree hold open feature (in either direction).
Vertical jambs are 1 3/4" x 4 1/2" (44.5mm x 114.3mm) aluminum extruded tube. Low profile type header is 1 3/4" x 4 1/2" (44.5mm x 114.3mm) and track height is 5/8" (15.8mm). Extruded sections used for door leaf fabrication are narrow stile configuration with vertical rails measuring 2 1/4" (57mm). Top and bottom rail is 4" (102mm) in width. Bottom floor track is not required and is unacceptable.
AUTOMATIC DOOR OPTION:
Besam's Navig-Aider swing door operator is available as an optional feature to automate the swing door in one direction and allow hands free operation. See expanded specification under Section F -- Surface Mounted Swing Doors.)
EMERGENCY BREAKAWAY:
Not required.
2.06FINISHES
All exposed aluminum surfaces are dark bronze anodized (AAC23A44) or clear anodized (AAC22A31). Custom finishes such as stainless steel clad are available, if specified. Powder coat painted finish is available with match to Kynar colors.
PART III EXECUTION
3.01EXAMINATION
Verify the openings are plumb and are dimensioned properly. Insure adequate support has been provided at the header. Proceed with the installation only after conditions are deemed satisfactory.
3.02INSTALLATION & ADJUSTMENT
Install equipment in accordance with Besam installation instructions and in compliance with local building and life safety codes.
Besam reserves the right to make product improvements and change specifications without notice.
