ABSTRACT

The International Conference on Applied and Creative Arts 2017 (ICACA) marks the fifth conference after 2006, 2008, 2011, and 2015. This conference is the flagship of Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS to provide a public space for intellectual discourse which brings together all our faculty members with scholars of art from the various local and international scenes. In addition, the conference also serve as a platform for scholars and researchers to establish network and relationship with art enthusiasts, art agencies, creative industries, non-governmental organizations, and with higher education institutions within and outside the country. Our Faculty is proud to organize the 5th ICACA 2017 with main sponsorship from PETRONAS Malaysia.

1.INTRODUCTION

Below is the paper format as your guideline: Allow top margins of 1.25” (3.2 cm) first page and 0.75” (1.9 cm) the following pages, bottom margin of 1.44” (3.7 cm) left margin of 0.63” (1.6 cm) and right margin of 0.63” (1.6 cm). Type single-spaced text and allow for a double spacing between paragraphs. The paper should include: title, author’s name(s), affiliation and present address, acknowledgement, abstract (200 words maximum), an introduction, content, a conclusion, and a reference section Acknowledgement and information on grant received should be given before the references. Important formulae (displayed), figures and tables should be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript. Fonts Use font type Times New Roman. Use font size 14 bold for the title. Use font size 12 for the author’s and affiliation names and addresses. Use font size 11 for the text which include abstract, body, references and acknowledgement. Headings Major headings should be centered in the column. Use capital letters. Subheadings should be set in italics, bold and aligned to the left-hand margin of the column on a separate line. Tables and Figures Use font size 10. The charts and graphs must be centered and tittle should be at the top. Number all tables and figures with Arabic numerals in the order in which the tables are first mentioned in text. The illustrations and photographs must be centered. Capitalize captions. End Notes Endnotes should be kept to a minimum. Use single spacing and font size 10 References References should be complete and follow the APA Style.

2.BACKGROUND

2.1. Payment and Registration

Please submit your registration fee payment accordingly. Only papers submitted with full registration fees will appear in the conference proceedings. During the ICACA2017 registration day, please bring along your registration fee payment documentations. International presenters / participants (student or non-student) must pay the registration fee in USD. Registration is not considered unless the payment has been received. Cancellation and refund will not be accepted after the registration.If you are unable to attend, a substitute or a replacement participant is allowed at no extra cost, provided that a written notice is given prior to the conference. Each paper will only cater for one author registration. Other authors must pay as attendee (participant without papers) if they want to attend and participate the conference session. Each paper will only get one certificate.

2.2. The Conference Aims and Objectives

To be a forum for educators, researchers, designers, policy makers, implementers, artists, students, and community leaders to meet and discuss various issues concerned with public arts. To share insights, discoveries, and new explorations in aspects of research, work process, management and marketing of various genres of art through the journal. To continue FACA’s efforts as an arts school which shows her continued support for art practices through conferences and scholarly research as well as publications which of quality. The theme for 5th ICACA 2017 is "Strengthening Communities through Arts and Cultural Practices.”

Submission of papers should relate to the topics or issues on;Improved knowledge of creativity, skills, and talent.Issues, challenges, opportunities, and new ideas in the field of Applied Arts and the creative industries.Maintenance, revitalizing, and sustaining of traditional arts, crafts and culture.Innovation, activities, and strategies in the arts and cultural enhancement.Development projects and knowledge transfer which improve the lives of communities.Research and development for community awareness.Intellectual property and copyrights.Creative efforts through branding, marketing, and management.Cultural, arts and heritage management and event management.

2.3.Keynote Speaker

Prof. Hong,jung-pyo Ph.D. Executive Director of Korean Society of Design Science,Professor, Dept. of Industrial Design, Jeonbuk , University Executive director for Conference.
Professor Dr. Hong Jung-Pyo’s expertise is in the area of product design where he is currently based at The Industrial Design and Graduate School of Art in Chung-An University. He received his doctorate degree from Chiba University in Japan. He joined the Design Research Center at LG Electronics Company in 1978, where he served as the manager of the electric design division.
He has been a professor of industrial design at Chonbuk National University since 1991. He acted as an exam writer and examiner of Korean national skill qualification tests. He holds numerous appointments on the national level; such as visiting author at the Korea Industrial Design Exhibition, Design Adviser at LS Memtron, Panel of Judges at the Korea Industrial Design Exhibition, Judge for the Good Design Award, and Korea Design Award. He holds various projects at LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, KUMHO Tire and DAEWOO Electronics which focuses on consumers’ reactions to aesthetical factors in product design. Professor Dr. Hong specializes in idea generation for creativity development and healthcare design development. He is now attached to the Korean Society of Design and Science, where he was formerly their chairman. His appointment as Gymnastic Promotion Council means that he is very active in various projects that benefits the Korean society and communities at large.

3.DEVELOPMENT OF HYPOTHESIS

3.1.Relationship with art enthusiasts

5.EMPIRICAL RESULTS AND ANALYSIS

5.1.Descriptive statistics

Table 1 reports descriptive statistics for selected firm characteristics, including mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, skewness and kurtosis for all variables used in the main analysis.
