TOWN OF GREENBUSH NEWSLETTER VOLUME 97 MAY 2011
To the citizens of Greenbush,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting during the past three years in my capacity as Code Enforcement Officer. When the position of Town Manager was offered to me, I looked upon it as a great chance for a new challenge and advancement. I have enjoyed a good working relationship with the Board of Selectmen, the Tax Assessor, the Planning Board as well as the office staff and look forward to building on that relationship to move forward through this transition as smoothly as possible. Although new to the position of Town Manager,
I am familiar with many of the workings of town government and its necessary procedures. I look forward to
meeting you during your visits to the Town Office as we continue to honor our open door policy.
Sincerely,
Jerry Davis
Town Manager

Property tax bills that have not been paid in full by mid-June will start to undergo the lien process. Unfortunately from the time that the lien process begins additional fees get added in the form of interest, filing fees and mailings. Tax payments do not have to be paid in a lump sum. We accept payments made regularly that fit your budget – whether monthly, weekly or quarterly. The Selectmen will be reviewing unpaid tax liens and foreclosure properties then deciding what actions to take on each in the near future. We understand these are tough times for individuals and families but they are also difficult for municipalities as our tax dollars are what provide the services we have all come to rely on daily.

Cemetery Expansion: You may have noticed the recent clearing on Military Road next to Weld Cemetery. This is in preparation to expand the Cemetery, a long awaited necessity for the Town. We’d like to thank the people involved in the collaborative effort to clear this lot which to date hasn’t cost the Town a penny. There is still a lot of work to be done in the clearing process with stump and root removal and possibly large rocks as well. The area will be surveyed and marked for roads and lots to avoid issues that we have encountered in some of our other cemeteries. We look forward to seeing the end results in the future.

GREENBUSH DINNER THEATERPRESENTS WILLEY PHINEDIT
May 21, 2011 6:00 PM Helen S. Dunn School Gym
Vernon Cox is the Maine humorist Willey Phinedit (Will E Find-it) a Tall Taleoligist
and UnRegistered Maine Guide. His tales are filled with the Down East humor traditions
of old, blending folk with original tales of fantasy as dry as your morning toast and as fresh
as your next cup of coffee!
Willey is a Maine character, who is sincere and honest as the day is long (like Alaska in
the Wintah). He has been known to stretch the truth just a little. When Willie arrives he
will arrive in his UnRegistered guide outfit and he will sound similar to the Maine
stereotypical downeast humorist. I say similar because he is not your granddad’s Bert or I
Tickets sold in advance $10.00 per person for roast beef dinner with blueberry cake and the show by Willey Phinedit. Tickets are available at the Town Office or from Rec Board members.
Code Enforcement
Spring has arrived and with it the urge to do those long awaited building projects from a new house, garage, shed or shop to adding on a deck, porch or room. Please contact the Town Office or stop by to check for any necessary permits for your project. Building permits of structures from 100 to 599 sq. ft. cost $20; 600 sq. ft. and up cost $30; electrical permits cost $10.
