Grading Policy

60% Tests (major grades)

30% Labs and quizzes

10% Classwork and homework (“Daily grade”)

Assignments

·  Access the school website (http://classroom.lagovistaisd.net/webs/lvhs/) to find "teacher websites." My homepage is listed under my name. Here you can download notes, PowerPoints, classwork, homework, study guides, learning targets, calendars, etc… I also have links to other useful websites such as quizlet.com (for vocabulary review) and sample tests & quizzes

·  Homework is due at the beginning of class. If you have an excused tardy, the work is due the minute you walk through the door. It is not my responsibility to remember to ask you for it; it is your responsibility to remember to turn it in on time.

·  Keep all papers, to verify the accuracy of your grades online and immediately report any discrepancy.

Makeup Work

·  You have as many days as you were absent to make up the work, assuming that they are excused absences. In other words, if you were absent three days, you have three days to get the work back to me.

·  PLEASE WRITE ABSENT on the top of the page of the assignment you are handing in.

·  If you miss a quiz or a test, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to make up the quiz or test you missed. Failure to make up the work within the correct time frame will result in loss of credit for the assignments due.

Classroom Guidelines

·  Please follow the guidelines in the LVHS student handbook.

Respect the feelings and property of your classmates, teachers, and the school. Be Responsible by coming to class prepared.

·  This is a science classroom; no food or drinks are allowed in the lab area.

·  Cell phones are not to be used in the classroom, unless you have asked for permission.

·  I take academic honesty very seriously. Do your own work.

9th grade students will be under the STAAR testing system and will take an End-of Course Exam.
