Course Summary

This undergraduate course is for pre-Pharmacy students preparing to sit for the PCAT exam. In thislesson, we will review the Musculoskeletal System in sufficient detail to prepare students for the exam and required for entry into an accredited, Pharm.D.program of study.

Learning Objectives

This lesson’s learning objectives include:

  • Develop a familiarity with anatomy-related literature on the internet
  • Recognize and name the significant bones of the human skeleton
  • Recognize and name major muscles and muscle groups
  • Identify the muscles involved in specific body movements

Assessment and Grading

I want to assess student knowledge of the Musculoskeletal System by using three methods. (1) Ask students to review anatomy-related internet websites and write a brief summary of an article of their choice. (2) Ask students to correctly name pictured musculoskeletal body parts. (3) Split students into two teams for developing pro and con arguments on a topic, which will be debated on the discussion board. (4) Ask students to select a musculoskeletal body part and write a summary about it. (5) Ask students to use knowledge gained and team with others to define and create a group project.
