“Comparative Criminal Justice” – Study Abroad

DESCRIPTION:“Comparative Criminal Justice” will take place in and around LONDON during Summer 2017. Students will leave May23, 2017, and arrive in LONDONonMay24th. After two weeks of visiting Criminal Justice type sites, participating in arranged discussion groups, and visiting historical sites, students will return to the United States on June7, 2017.
COURSE CREDIT: “Comparative Criminal Justice” is a comparative look at the difference between the US Criminal Justice System and Criminal Justice abroad requiring observing, journaling, and critical writing. Students will be required to submit writing assignments to Dr. Prior by a due date after the course. A short presentation will also be given by student during post-travel classes.Graduate and/or Undergraduate credit (3 credit hours) is available through the following listing for pre-summer: CJCR 4017/5017
REQUIREMENTS: A requirement of a 2.0 GPA is needed unless prior approval from instructor is granted.
WHAT’S NEEDED TO APPLY: Please turn in CJCR SA Application, one reference letter from a current professor, a 300-800 word essay, first installment of deposit ($200) to hold place in class. You will be notified within a week of your application of your acceptance into the class.
DEADLINES: for joining class will coincide with the second deposit date (February 24, 2017)

Students should start by consulting with the ETSU Financial Aid Office (Amy Collins) about funding opportunities!Students shouldalso look on the International Programs website at for information on scholarships.Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships by JANUARY 31st (firm deadline) to help with the cost of the trip.After looking at the website you may want to contact Patricia Lin-Steadman in International Programs (Yoakley Hall) with questions you may have. Financial aid and/or scholarship funds will not be released until mid-May. You must make other arrangements to pay for program costs prior to any ETSU funds dispersement. International Programs has a bridge loan program to cover airfare/amount of IE award on a first-come, first-serve basis for IE Scholarship recipients, ONLY!
PLANNING MEETING/ CLASSES: All students are required to attend all pre-course information and planning sessionswhen important information will be provided for the trip and assignments. You are also required to attend class sessions before and after the travel dates unless prior approval is gained.

- ETSU International Education Scholarship Deadline is January 31st

The purpose of these scholarships is to provide financial support to all eligible undergraduate and
graduate students who plan to study abroad. Awards are based on merit and financial need
