Instructions to authors for the extended abstract

Summary. This article presents the style for the extended abstract of the NSCM-24 proceedings. The article begins with a summary, which should be less than about one hundred words.

Introduction

The Seminar proceedings will consist of a hard-printed book containing Extended Abstracts. Authors should submit the Extended Abstract electronically using the e-mail, , for dead-lines see the conference web-pages at The Extended Abstract should be written following the format described in this file which is available from the conference website. The organizers do not commit themselves to include in the Proceedings any Extended Abstract received later than the ultimate deadline of September 23rd 2011. The speaker and the contact author should match. The speaker must register and pay his registration fee during the advance period (before October 7th 2011) for the Extended Abstract to be included in the proceedings and final programme of the Seminar.

The Extended Abstract must be written in English within a printing box of 16cm x 21cm, centered in the page. The Extended Abstract including figures, tables and references should have a minimum length of 2 pages and should not exceed 4 pages. Maximum file size is 4 MB.

Predefined styles

At the top of the first page the name of the proceedings header which should not be changed. For the title of the article there is the style ArticleTitle after which the author names and affiliations are placed using the Authors-style. The abstract style is named as Summary. The word Summary should be written in front of the summary-text using the Lucida-Sans font as in this model. The style of the key words is Keywords.

After key words the body of the text begins. Section headings are written as bold using the style SectionTitle. After the heading the first paragraph should not be intended. Use the SectionText style for the first paragraph after heading. The other paragraphs should be intended 6 mm, the corresponding style is SectionText2. Sections could be divided into subsections. The subsection headers are written in italic using the style SubsectionTitle, see the section Figures and tables.

The font of the text is Times New Roman, except in the title of the article and in the section and subsection headings, where Lucida Sans-font should be used.

Mathematical formulas

Mathematical equations should be centered as in the Equation-style and the equation numbers are placed in the right-hand side as in the example formula (1).

Matrices and vectors should be distinguished from scalars by using bold face symbols. Another way to mark vectors is to place an arrow above the symbol.

Figures and tables

Figures

Figures should be clear and legible. Figure captions are written below the figure using the style FigureCaption with 11 pt. font size. See figure 1.

Tables

Table captions should be placed above the table with the style TableCaption using 11 pt. font size. In table 1 predefined styles for the NSCM-24 proceedings have been listed. Use 11 pt. font size also in text inside the tables.

Tables should be made clear and easy to read. The following simple rules should be remembered:

1. Do not use vertical rules.
2. Do not use double rules.
3. Put the units in the column heading, not in the body of the table.
4. Always precede a decimal point by a digit; thus 0.1 not just .1.
5. Do not use ”ditto” signs or any other such convention to repeat a previous value. In many circumstances a blank will serve just as well. If it won’t then repeat the value.

Citation style

The list of references can be done either by numbered citations or using the Harvard style. This instruction is written using a numbering style. Reference to a book can be done as in Ref. [1] and to an article as in Ref. [2].
