Item Type: Reading / Multiple Choice
Audio Directions: “Choose the correct answer.” / Visual
Mr. Lopez: “OK. Let me show you how to take the next part of the test.”
Mr. Lopez:: “First, look at the picture and read the story or question that’s printed on the screen, … then, read each of the four answer choices.”
Mr. Lopez: “Finally, just click on the button next to the correct answer … Like this.” (Click on button or word that answers the question.)
Mr. Lopez: “That’s easy, isn’t it? Now, you try it.”
“Read the question and look at the answer choices.”
“Now, click on the button next to the correct answer.”
Mr. Lopez: “OK! Now, you can click on the arrow to start this part of the test.”

NOTE: Students can click the word as well as the radio button to select their answer. The entire line of text is active as a button. /

“Read the sentence and look at the pictures.”
Mr. Lopez: “Now, click on the picture that matches what you read…the picture of the running boy.”
Mr. Lopez: “OK! Now, you can click on the arrow to start this part of the test.” /

Audio Directions: “Fill in the box.” / Visual
Mr. Lopez: “OK. Let me show you how to take the next part of the test.”
Mr. Lopez: “First, look at the picture and read the word with the missing letter,….… then, think about which letter is missing.”
Mr. Lopez: “Now, click on the letter that completes the word … Like this.”
(Click on letter or letters to complete or make a word.)
Mr. Lopez: “That’s easy, isn’t it? Now, you try it.”
“Look at the word and think of the missing letter.”
“Now, go ahead and click on the letter that goes in the box.”

(Type in at least a sentence that describes the picture.)

Mr. Lopez: “Then, just click on the picture that matches what the teacher said… Like this.” (Click on the correct picture.)
Mr. Lopez: “That’s easy, isn’t it? Now, you try it. Listen to the teacher.”
Teacher: “The boy is running.”
Mr. Lopez: “Now, click on the picture that matches what the teacher said.”
Mr. Lopez: “OK! Now, you can click on the arrow to start the test.” /

Teacher: “Mrs. Chavez is reading a story to her class. It’s a very funny story and they love to hear it again and again.” ... “Why do the children love this story so much?”
Mr. Lopez: “Now, look at each of the answer choices. If you click on the speaker next to each answer choice, the teacher will read it out loud to help you. … Like this.” (Click on the blue speaker icon.)
Teacher: “Because it’s very funny.”
Mr. Lopez: “Next, just click on the button to choose your answer. … Like this.”
Mr. Lopez: “That’s easy, isn’t it? OK! Now, you can click on the arrow to start the test.”

NOTE: Students can click the word as well as the radio button to select their answer. The entire line of text is active as a selection button. The BLUE speaker icon is not part of the selection, but will play a reading of the sentence for the student to hear, when clicked. /

Mr. Lopez: “First, look at the picture and read the sentence on the screen, … then, think about something you can say to tell what’s happening in this picture.”
Mr. Lopez: “You will see a round red button that says RECORD, and a square red button that says STOP…. When you are ready to speak, just click on the round red RECORD button and speak into your microphone. When you are finished talking, click on the square red STOP button … This is how you will do it.” (mouse moves to RECORD button.)
Student: “The children are playing in the sandbox. It’s recess and they’re having lots of fun, but they will have to go inside when the bell rings.” (mouse moves to STOP button.)
Mr. Lopez: “That’s easy, isn’t it? OK! Now, you can click on the arrow to start this part of the test.” /

Mr. Lopez: “You will see a round red button that says RECORD, and a square red button that says STOP…. When you are ready to speak, just click on the round red RECORD button and speak into your microphone. When you are finished talking, click on the square red STOP button … This is how you will do it.” (mouse moves to RECORD button.)
Student: “These are both classrooms. In one picture the boy is writing on the board. In the other picture, he is not there.”
Mr. Lopez: “That’s easy, isn’t it? Now, you can click on the arrow to start the test.” /
Item Type: Speaking / Elicited Imitation
Audio Directions: “Listen and repeat.” / Visual
Mr. Lopez: “OK. Let me show you how to take this part of the test.”
Mr. Lopez: “First, look at the picture and then listen very carefully to the teacher.”
Teacher: “I like the story.”
Mr. Lopez: You will see a round red button that says RECORD... You need to repeat what the teacher just said.... Say it exactly the same as the teacher...
When you are ready to speak, just click on the round red button and speak into your microphone.
Remember say it just like the teacher said it.
When you are finished talking, click on the square red button that says STOP.
This is how you will do it......
Student: “I like the story.”
Mr. Lopez: “That’s easy, isn’t it? All you have to do is repeat the sentence just like the teacher said it. Now, you can click on the arrow to start the test.” /
