Instructions for sketching version of the old telephone game

1.  Start with an entirely blank sheet of 8.5x11 paper. Carefully rip it into 6 pieces. (Each piece should be nearly square.)

2.  Number each paper in the upper right corner (one through five) and discard the 6th page.

3.  Stack them in order with 1 on the top and 5 on the bottom.

4.  On page 1 draw some interesting object in an isometric view.

5.  <instructor gives about 3 minutes>

6.  Pass the pile with your sketch on top to the next person.

7.  Take the pile you received and set page 1 aside so you can see page 2.

8.  On page 2 sketch front, top and right views of the object sketched on page 1.

9.  <instructor gives about 2 minutes>

10.  Place your sketch on the top of the pile and place page one on the bottom of the pile (the page order from top to bottom should now be 2, 3, 4, 5, 1).

11.  Pass the pile to the next person.

12.  Without looking at page 1, convert the 3 orthographic views on page 2 to an isometric view on page 3.

13.  <instructor gives about 2 minutes>

14.  Place your sketch on the top of the pile and move the previous sketch to the bottom of the pile (the page order from top to bottom should now be 3, 4, 5, 1, 2).

15.  Pass the pile to the next person.

16.  Without looking at page 2, convert the isometric view on page 3 to three orthographic views on page 4.

17.  <instructor gives about 2 minutes>

18.  Following the procedure above sketch an isometric view of the object on page 5.

19.  <instructor gives about 2 minutes>

20.  Lay out the drawings in order in front of you so that the progression can be seen.

21.  Get up from your seat and look at the other drawings in the room.

22.  Notice how things morphed (eg a couch becomes a phone, etc.)
